*CALL
TO WORSHIP
Leader: Eyes that peer into a computer screen,
People: Minds that search for the teachable truths,
Leader: Hands that juggle figures or transform
blank canvases into colorful scenes,
People: Fingers that turn written scrawl into
poetry and verse,
Leader: Arms that carry a newly crafted cabinet or
a stack of the day's newspapers,
People: Minds and bodies, laboring for the good,
working for justice, hoping the work makes a difference in the divine order.
Leader: God receives our labor and fits it into the
whirling universe. Each effort offered in love is a gift to our gracious God
who welcomes our work and cherishes our praise.
*HYMN OF PRAISE #92
“For the Beauty of the Earth”
*SHARING THE PEACE OF CHRIST
If you have a prayer joy or concern, you are
invited to fill out
a prayer card and hand it to the
usher during the prayer hymn.
PRAYER HYMN #2200
“O Lord Hear
My Prayer
Sing through twice, the first time singing:
“O Lord hear my prayer” Second time: “O Lord Hear our Prayer
PRAYER OF CONFESSION (In unison)
God of amazing joy and
surprising grace, hear the fragile chords of our high-strung days: days of
worry over a next paycheck and mounting bills; days of dis-ease in unpleasant
and un-fulfilling work; anxious days of waiting for a doctor's report; days of
hurry and packed schedules, with an overload of tasks and lists and time
measured by the minute and by the prayer, " O, God, don't let there be a
traffic jam."
God of amazing joy and
surprising grace, release in us a new song, where laughter and sighs resound.
Let your grace ease our obsession with doing it all. Let your joy free us from
needing to have it all. Create in us a joyous sound. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Parents of College students: If you are the parent of a
college student who is living away from home this year, you should be receiving
a call asking for up-to-date addresses and information about your son or
daughter. If you have not received a
call from anyone on the Higher Education Committee, please drop off the
information about your son(s) or daughter(s) in the church office, or call Barb
Tatarchuk.
Calling All Secret Saints: Every year, members of our
congregation are given the opportunity to become Secret Saints for our college
students who are living away from home. The job of the Secret Saint is to
maintain some contact with the student during the course of the school year.
Secret Saints often send cards, cookies, postcards or other items on a monthly
basis. September 8 will be the official
sign-up day for Secret Saints. A table
will be set up in fellowship hall after both services on September 8 for those
individuals who are interested in "sainthood."

Offer your input to our current Vision Question; Leading persons to commit their lives to God is the third action point in our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ.
How do you think we can accomplish that in today’s
world?

used books for children of preschool age through adolescence, please leave
