    *CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:      Come, people of God, to know again who you are,

return to the One who gives you life.

People:      We come as children of God longing for a closer walk with our Creator.

Leader:      We are called to lay aside previous assumptions, to give up our advantages and security.

People:      It is frightening to venture into the unknown, to follow a call and a promise.

Leader:      But we have received the promise of steadfast love.

God has blessed us and our hearts are glad.

People:      We will join in exploring God’s purposes and open ourselves to God’s leading on the journey.

PRAYERS OF CONFESSION   (in unison)

God of Abraham and Sarah, we confess that we have not listened with all our being to your direction as we journey in faith.  We have not wanted to accept the cost of following Jesus.  We have not allowed the Spirit to engage us.  We want life on our own terms.  We confess, O God, that we need you especially when we fail to hear or refuse to act.  Forgive us and strengthen us for right directions and fruitful actions.  Amen.
