One:   It is God who draws us here.

All:      A yearning to praise

One:   That which is bigger than us.

All:      A desire to give thanks

One:   For the bountiful gifts of life.

All:      It is God who draws us here

All:      To challenge our half-hearted efforts.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND  WORDS OF ASSURANCE

O God, we confess that we have loved our own way more than we love you.  The Spirit of truth does not abide in us, for our actions belie the words of praise we utter in worshsip.  We neglect the spiritual disciplines that would draw us close to you and the caring outreach that would link us with sisters and brothers who need to know of your love.  Our witness of faith is so weak that it rarely evokes opposition or causes us to suffer.  Forgive us, teach us, help us!  Amen

Our “Loose Plate” collection today is for the Shepherd’s Table here in our town.  Our funds help supply food that is prepared for those who need a hot meal.  This meal is open to all who are hungry, without regard to religion, age, or economic status.  If you think your amount of change can’t make a difference, just see how much can be collected on one Sunday morning.  Coins (or bills) can add up quickly and the need in our community is now and very real.

Our First Sunday donations of non-perishable food and paper products will be given to the King’s Storehouse Pantry at the First Baptist Church.
