“He Is Lord”

*PRAYER OF DEDICATION (In Unison)

This offering is our most significant statement of faith, O God. We give because we believe this congregation is important, our ministry changes lives for the better, and we are part of something much larger than ourselves. Ultimately, we believe the church is our firmest link to your Reality. Use our time, talent and treasure in ways that exceed our grandest design. In the name of the risen Savior, Jesus. Amen.

SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION

THE INVITATION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND WORDS OF ASSURANCE

Almighty and Eternal God, we thank you that you have not left us in our sin and despair. Loving us, you have brought us good news and set before us the way of Life. Yet we confess that we have failed to see the way. In stubborn pride we have spurned your mercy and your help. In selfishness we have turned away from those who need us. We have allowed ourselves to be crushed by troubles, as though Christ had not been raised at all. Forgive our faithlessness, and grant that we may know new life and hope, in the spirit of the resurrection. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

HYMN OF CELEBRATION #617

“I Come With Joy”

Verses 1, 2 & 4

COMMUNION LITANY

A COMMUNION LITANY FOR EASTERTIDE

L.    The peace of the Lord be with you.

P.    And also with you.

L.    Lift up your hearts.

P.    We lift them up to the Lord.

L.     Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

P.     It is right to give God thanks and praise.

L.     Loving and Compassionate God, we give you praise for the care and grace which you show toward all that you have made. We thank you for acting to deliver us from the power of sin and death through Jesus Christ your only begotten son, our Savior and Lord. With all creation, and with all the company of the redeemed, we magnify your glorious name, evermore praising you, saying:

P.     Holy, holy, holy, Lord,
God of power and might,
Heaven and earth are full of your glory,
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord,
Hosanna in the highest.

L.     Eternal God, we trust in you. We thank you for raising Jesus from the dead, the first fruit of all who have fallen asleep. His ascension into heaven to sit at your right hand we confess, and his coming again in triumph we await.

P.     Come Lord Jesus, come

L.     We remember, O Father, in accordance with his command, how Jesus on the night he was betrayed, took bread and blessed it, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

We remember too how in the same manner he took the cup and gave it to his disciples saying, “Drink from this, all of you; this is the blood of the new covenant, poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

P.     Worthy is the Lamb, the Lamb that was slain, to receive all power and wealth, wisdom and might, honor and glory and praise.

L.     Worthy indeed, O Lord, is your Son Jesus Christ, who died so that we might live and who rose from the dead so that we might be one with him in your sight. We pray that our lives may always proclaim the mystery of faith:

P.     Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.

L.     Loving God, send your Holy Spirit upon us and upon these gifts that the bread we break may be for us communion in the body of Christ, and the cup of blessing, which we bless may be for us communion in the blood of Christ; and that being built up in love we may be strengthened in the unity of the faith and come to full maturity in Christ our Lord, who taught us to pray together –

All: The Lord’s Prayer

SHARING THE BREAD AND THE CUP

Communion will be served by intinction.

Please come by the center aisle and return by the side aisle.
