NOTES
*CALL
TO WORSHIP
L: We have
come to this place and hour in our life because we need to know new strength
for our souls.
P: We have
journeyed in the wilderness and have been wearied by known temptations.
L: It is in
this place that we tap into the strength that Jesus found in his own moments of
weariness and temptation.
P: It is in
this experience of time together that we renew our commitment to the call of
Jesus: “You shall worship the Lord your God.”

SILENT REFLECTION
If you have a prayer joy or concern, you are invited
to fill out a prayer card and hand it to the usher at this time.
UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Lord Jesus, Companion on the way, this is a
beginning, a starting point of looking deep within ourselves. Now we peel away
the layers of deception. We make excuses for not hearing the pain of another.
We blame others rather than confess our mistakes or hasty words.
Holy Guide, walk with us this Lenten season. Remove
our blinders and unstop our ears. Help us see the truth about ourselves -- that
we are your beloved and are able to do great things in your name. Help us see
the hurt around us that we can help heal. Walk with us in the valleys of
temptation, hold us in the moments of fear and bring us to the joy of Easter.
Amen.

Through our offerings, O God, we would supply bread
to those who hunger and the bread of life to feed all who need spiritual
nourishment. We who have received good
news seek to live by it and to share the gospel with others. May our gifts and our lives proclaim your
rule among all people, beginning in our midst and extending through all your
world. Amen.
