*CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:                   This is a day to celebrate new life,

To open our ears to the sounds of God’s world,

To open our eyes to the beauty of creation.

People: We are glad for green grass and flowers,

for the music of birds and raindrops.

Leader:                   This is a day of gladness and joy;

We remember Jesus, who welcomed all people

and recognized the value of each one.

People: We are glad for Jesus,

            our helper and friend.

Leader:                  Jesus is alive!  His Spirit lives in us,

Helping us when we are afraid or lonely or sad.

People: Jesus shows us how much God loves us,

and lets us know we are forgiven.

Leader: Be glad today.  Let us rejoice together.  Life is good.  We are accepted, loved and welcomed into the Church of Jesus Christ.  All power to Jesus’ name.

PRAYER ANTHEM                                                            Chancel Choir

“All That I Am”     Arr. William Himes

UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Great God of love, you created us for love, called us to share love and to mirror in our relationships the kindness, care and generosity that you show us.  We have good intentions, but we fall short of being truly loving.  When harmed or ignored, we look for ways to get back, pay back or turn our backs.

Remind us again that loving ourselves involves loving God and others.  Save us from a selfish love, a narrow preoccupation with self that ignores the rainbow of your creation. Teach us to be good friends and faithful companions as we follow the way of Christ.  Amen.
