*CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:        Some of the disciples would have sent us away.

“We cannot feed you,” they insisted.

People: But the Friend said, “Stay with us, and you shall eat.”

Leader: Come, let us open our baskets and combine the little food we have brought on our different journeys.

People: To the crowds, we give our fish from the river and

we offer our bread from the field.

Leader:        Lift up the food; look up to heaven and bless it!

All:      Let us share with our brothers and sisters, that all the world may behold the power of God’s name!

*SHARING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

MUSICAL CALL TO PRAYER

“Sage of Lamberéné”   ˜ Cardon, Bestor and Blosil

If you have a prayer joy or concern to be shared, please fill out

a prayer card and hand it to an usher during the Prayer Hymn.

INVOCATION   (In Unison)

Almighty and everlasting God, thank you for welcoming us into your presence.  We bow before you in confidence, not because of our goodness, but because of your grace.  We pray that you will repeat in us the miracle you have worked in others – converting worshipers into witnesses and believers into disciples.  Amen.

“Between the Miracles”

MOMENTS OF REFLECTION AND SONG

Twelve baskets left over!  The great crowd is fed.

From five loaves and fishes a banquet is spread

The needs are so great, our resources so small,

but Christ breaks and blesses enough for us all.

Twelve baskets left over!  Our barns bulge with grain.

Why must tender children know hunger and pain?

God gives us enough if we only will share,

like Christ, making justice and living with care.

Twelve baskets left over, much more than we need!

O Christ, name our doubt, our excuses, our greed.

Then teach us to trust you each day that we live,

to share with thanksgiving the gifts that your give.

OFFERTORY INVITATION

OFFERING OUR GIFTS TO GOD OFFERTORY

*DOXOLOGY                               #94

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;

Praise God, all creatures here below:  Alleluia!  Alleluia!

Praise God, the source of all our gifts!

Praise Jesus Christ, whose power up lifts!

Praise the Spirit, Holy Spirit!  Alleluia!  Alleluia!  Alleluia!

*PRAYER OF CONSECRATION

Lord, you take the five loaves and two fish. You bless them, break them and give them to feed thousands.

So now take the little we have to offer,

bless it, break it, and give it to feed the multitudes.

All we have, we lay at your feet,

our possessions, our time, our strength, our love.

In our hands, these things are never enough:

but in your hands, they fill every need.

Take all we have Lord;

   to feed us,

   all those around us

and all those lost in deserted places.  Amen.

Worship Notes

We are grateful for all of the members our Praise Team this morning.  Matt Stump is on the drums.

The music used for the Call to Prayer was written in tribute to Dr. Albert Schweitzer.  The song “Sage of Lamberéné” from the  “Innovators” offers the sound of African melodies with Bach played over top of it.  A portion of our prayer time will focus on Liberia.  Hear this song with your heart in prayer.

Our church Website has a new look – take a peek at www.umccadillac.org.  Our Webmaster, Dan Kinney, has updated the site.  Lots of good information and many links.  You can even get your own e-mail address off the site.  The Sunday bulletin is posted.  There is the online Cokesbury bookstore and CBD bookstore - check it out!!

The Prayer Tree for those serving in the military continues in the narthex for you to place a heart on with the name and service of a member of the armed forces that you would like remembered in prayer during these precarious days of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  We invite you to remember these military personnel in prayer.
