CLIP BOARD MINISTRY

*CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:     In this season of Lent, we remember Jesus’ journey

            to Jerusalem.  We follow him.

People: We follow with our minds the stories of scripture;

Leader:     We follow with our hearts the passion of Christ and the passions of our brothers and sisters;

People: We follow with hands and feet through recommitment to justice and reconciliation;

‘Leader:    We follow with the wings of the spirit in prayer and meditation.

People: May our minds be open;

Leader:     May our hands be strong;

People: May our hearts be gentle and may our spirits sing.

Leader:     May this worship so transform us that in the week to come we will, indeed, share with others our Jerusalem journeys and follow Jesus in the way of life.  Amen.

*HYMN OF PRAISE                                                                         #163

                           “Ask Ye What Great Thing I Know”

*SHARING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

            If you have a prayer joy or concern, you are invited to fill out a prayer card and hand it to the usher during the Prayer Hymn.

PRAYER HYMN                                                                               #292

                      “What Wondrous Love Is This”   Vs. 1 & 2

UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Reconciling God, compassionate Christ, we realize that we have often resembled enemy agents more than ministers of reconciliation.  With angry words and vindictive actions we have harmed our brothers and sisters.  We have dehumanized those we do not wish to understand.  We distance ourselves from those who disappoint us or remind us of our own human frailty.  Forgive us, O God; lift us to a higher, holier purpose.  Help us to draw as close to each other as you drew to us in Christ.  Help us to regard persons no longer from a human point of view but from the vantage point of the cross where all hostility was conquered, all forgiveness assured.  Amen.
