*CALL TO WORSHIP
One: Flames. Crackling, burning flames,
All: Like tongues of fire,
One: Whipped by winds,
All: Strong, spirit winds.
One: Yet, nothing destroyed, except fear _
All: Fear of speaking, fear of loving.
One: Nothing destroyed, except timidity _
All: Timid actions, hesitant witness.
One: It's Pentecost!
All: Tongues of fire and strong winds
One: Blowing again,
All: Getting inside us,
One: Burning away fear,
All: Setting loose contagious joy and bold compassion,
One: Causing us to sing.

concern to be shared, please fill out

UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Spirit of God, we long to be spiritually alive, but our days are filled with the same routines and endless repetition. We feel tired and long for a new burst of spring.
We long to be good parents, rooted in love and care, but at times, we can be short_tempered or indifferent or just longing for some peace and quiet.
We long, O God, for the spirit of compassion and justice, yet we are frustrated by our own busyness, hung up by our own prejudices and disturbed because our dreams are scattered and torn.
Spirit of God, be for us joy. Be a healing gift of love and create in us a new heart. Come and build your community right here, right now. Amen.

O God, on this day of Pentecost we celebrate your Spirit so freely given and so powerfully active within your church. As that Spirit moves in our midst, may it inspire us towards generosity and fire us with an energy to serve you well. We ask this in the name of Christ whose promise of ever-presence the Spirit fulfills. Amen.
