*CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: Planted in love by God and nourished by the life-giving vine that is Christ,

People: Our lives in this world can be fruitful.

Leader: Fruitfulness is the sign that we are being fed by Christ and not some other.  The vine will bear for its planter.

People: But will the branch that we represent be pruned or burned?

Leader:      It is not our responsibility to be the Source of life.

People: It is our responsibility to be the channel.

All:      The willing vehicle of God’s bounty for all peoples!

UNISON PRAYER

Loving God, whom we praise and glorify as disciples of Jesus Christ, cleanse us today by your word so we may rejoice once more in our baptism and aspire to the perfection of love among us and throughout your world.  Prune away the dead debris of our fears and failures so we may become productive branches in the church, reaching out to feed a world starving for genuine love and yearning for community.  Amen.

Attention Campers:  Please get your United Methodist Church Camp applications in as soon as possible.  Brochures and applications are available in Fellowship Hall.  If you have questions, call Marian Fuller.

Special Friends Program:  As a part of our newly expanded Parish Nurse Program, we are recruiting new participants for our “Special Friends” program.  This is a  program in which we pair a shut-in or a person who is alone, with someone who will visit, call, possibly share an activity and just generally take a special interest in his/her welfare.  This can be a very rewarding experience for both parties.  If you or someone you know could benefit from having or being a “special friend”, please call the church office 775-5362 or Donna Freeland 876-1906.  If you are able to give us a little personal information and some special interests, hobbies, etc., it will hopefully help with matching compatible people.  Our hope is to form some lasting friendships with many blessings for everyone involved.

Methodist Men will gather for their regular meeting on Thursday, May 22, at 6:00 p.m.  in the Corbin Room.  Following their usual ‘outstanding’ potluck dinner, they will hear a program presented by Chaplin Dave Bassett on his experiences in working as God’s point man in the Michigan Corrections System.  Jarvis Kraatz is the host and all men are invited to join us.

Cards and best wishes may be sent Hattie Coffell at:
