BRINGING IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST
WELCOME AND PARISH NOTES
*CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: God
is calling. Do you hear?
You
are being called by name, for a purpose.
People: God, you
have searched us and know us.
You
discern our thoughts from far away.
Leader: Do not
confuse the siren calls of the world for God’s call. Do not confuse the values of this world for
God’s values. Come, let us worship
together.

Thou Almighty King”

PEOPLE OF GOD PRAYING
PRAYER HYMN #2071
& 2064
Jesus, name above all names, beautiful Savior,
glorious Lord. Emmanuel, God is with us,
blessed Redeemer, living Word.
O Lord, you’re beautiful, your face is all I
seek; and when you eyes are on this
child, your grace abounds to me.
O Lord, you’re wonderful, your touch is all I need;
and when your hand is on this child, your healing I receive.
Jesus, name above all names, beautiful Savior,
glorious Lord. Emmanuel, God is with us,
blessed Redeemer, living Word.
If you have a prayer joy or concern, please fill out a
prayer card and hand it to an usher during the singing of the hymn.
UNISON PRAYER
We have come together, listening God, because you have
spoken your word of summons and welcome.
We are drawn irresistibly to the promise of your presence and by the
persistence of your call. Speak to your
servants here in ways we can understand.
We want to hear the message you intend for us. We want to listen, not because someone else
needs to have it told to them, but because we ourselves are needy sinners. Your
expectations of us are high and holy. We
tremble before you, eager for the heavens to be opened in our midst for our
transformation. Amen.

CHORAL ANTHEM Chancel

“I
Will Follow” Arr. Douglas Wagner
The choral anthem this morning is
offered to the glory
of God and dedicated to
the men and women
serving in the armed
forces of our country
during these
precarious days.
The inspiring words of
this anthem based
on the 23rd
Psalm is our prayer for them.

O
God, may we who bear your name
by gentle

Christ’s

your anointing Spirit share. Amen.
*PRAYER OF CONSECRATION (In
unison)
We have heard you calling us, loving God, in the cries
of your children —cries for bread, for justice, for relief. We have seen you beckoning to us amid the
corporate greed and social distortions of our day. We want to help and we believe your church
can be Christ’s healing presence. Show
us the way to be messengers of your gentle judgment and powerful good
news. May our offerings be used for the
transformation of church and society, individuals and groups. Amen.
