                            THE GATHERING TO WORSHIP

PRELUDE

BRINGING IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST

WELCOME AND PARISH NOTES

CALL TO WORSHIP

I arrive

breathless and jangled

all helter-skelter.

Greeting, greeted and ushered

I drop gracelessly,

into the pew.

A prayer comes to mind:

I made it!  Thank God, I’m not late.

Too, too aware, that only my body is present,

I struggle to get-it-together,

to move

from world

           . . .  to Worship

Breath gasped and sighed then a familiar face

two rows ahead and to the left

(smile and nod)

and another and another

focus on sanctuary . . . bodies . . . faces

subtle barrage of the familiar . . .

The Body.

Known people

in place

belonging one to another

at peace in the bosom of family.

Spirit without becomes Spirit within.

Another prayer:

Once again, O God, you come to me through others.

Thank you.
