Easter Sunday
= The
Resurrection of our Lord
April 20, 2003 at Eleven O’clock in the Morning
“On the first day of the
week, at early dawn,
the women came to the
tomb,
taking the spices that
they had prepared.
They found the stone
rolled away from the tomb . . .”
Prepared for mourning,
they were called to joy instead.
May their witness give you
hope.
Christ is risen!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

*CALL TO CELEBRATION
Leader: Easter is shouting, "Christ is
risen!"
People: Easter is waiting for the coming of the
Spirit on Pentecost.
Leader: Easter is joy at the incredible Good News
that love is stronger than death.
People: Easter is confident hope that in the midst
of trouble, God is still at work.
Leader: Easter is fragrant lilies, sunrise
services, butterfly banners and shouts of joy.
People: Easter is 50 days of keeping joy afloat
when busyness and worry threaten to sink our zest for life.
All: Easter is God's action every Sunday
reminding us to live joyfully, walk expectantly, love faithfully and sing
triumphantly.

UNISON PRAYER
We greet the dawning
brightness of this special day with hopes renewed. We have known grief and sorrow, loss and
tears, fear and failure. Meet us here,
living Christ, for we need this time of resurrection. We need your healing presence. We need your word of greeting that welcomes
us into the community of faith in spite of our doubts and faithlessness. You are the Great Teacher. We have come to learn from you for we want to
be your disciples. May the story of
Easter become our story so we may embody its hope for the whole world. Amen.

bursting out for all the world to hear and observe. May the glad songs motivate practical
ministries. As forgiven and forgiving

all we offer express true thankfulness.
Amen.

Darlene Ressler is
offering her Ministry of Music at our 8:30 worship service. Also offering their talents are David Lapham,
Betsy George on trumpet; Matt Stump on percussion and Brandon Kinney on
tuba. They are accompanying the Chancel
Choir anthem and the opening and closing hymns at the 11:00 a.m. worship. We are so appreciative of these musicians
sharing with us as we worship.
The Chancel Choir
anthem, A Resurrection Proclamation, was purchased from a gift given by
Janice Frandsen. The Choir offers this anthem to the Glory of God and in honor
and in memory of Janice and Arnie Frandsen.
The Prayer Tree
for those serving in the military continues to be available in the narthex for
you to place a heart on with the name and service of a member of the armed
forces that you would like remembered in prayer during these precarious days of
Operation Iraqi Freedom. We invite you
to remember these military personnel in prayer daily.
Next Sunday, April
27
the Northern Michigan Christian School Choir will be here to sing during
worship. Plan to worship on the second
Sunday of Easter as we continue to celebrate Easter.
