A TIME OF SINGING
BRINGING IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST
WELCOME AND PARISH NOTES
*CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: I was
glad when they said to me,
All: "Let
us go to the house of the LORD!"
Leader: How
lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD of hosts!
Women: My soul
longs, indeed it faints for the courts of
the Lord;
Men: My heart
and my flesh sing for joy to the living God.
All: Happy
are those who live in your house, ever singing your praise.
Leader: I
was glad when they said to me,
All: "Let
us go to the house of the LORD!"

PRAYER HYMN #405
“Seek
Ye First”
If you have a prayer joy or
concern to be shared, please fill out
a
prayer card and hand it to an usher during the Prayer Hymn.
UNISON PRAYER
OF CONFESSION AND WORDS OF PROMISE
We are reluctant to face your judgment, all-knowing
God. We know we have not fully invested
the talents you have entrusted to us. We
hide them and hoard them, retreating into a false sense of security. We live in the nighttime of self-protection
rather than in the light of full participation in loving, faithful service. We seek to escape from life rather than
investing ourselves in acts of compassion and care. Have mercy on us, O God for we want to be
children of the day – your day. Amen.
PRAYER OF THE PEOPLE
THE LORD’S PRAYER #895
DEDICATION OF VBS STAFF
Pastor: Lighthouse
Kids begins this week. Many persons have
made a commitment to provide leadership for this program. We recognize these persons this morning.
Psalm 119:105 says:
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” These persons before you are dedicating
themselves to teaching each participant in Lighthouse Kids that each will be a
beacon of God’s light; these persons are each lighting the way to guide
children to discover God. What can we as
a congregation do to support you during Lighthouse Kids?
Staff: We ask
you to pray for us as we seek God’s help and to pray for all those persons
whose lives we will touch this week so that they can understand they can
receive God’s light for their lives. We
also ask you to help us extend an invitation to neighbors, relative and friends
to join us at Lighthouse Kids.
Pastor and Congregation: Gracious God, thank you for
these persons you have called to your service.
Help them be a blessing to all who take part in Lighthouse Kids. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Praise Jesus Christ, whose power up lifts!
Praise the Spirit, Holy Spirit! Alleluia!

*PRAYER OF CONSECRATION (In unison)
There is no escape from your judgment, O Spirit of
Holiness, but neither can we flee beyond your limitless love. We offer an accounting of our stewardship in
and beyond the offering of this day.
Reshape our lives for joyous responsive participation in work that
builds up the body of Christ and offers care and compassion to those who have
lost a sense of meaning for their lives.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Liturgical Dance is a form of worship and prayer.
Our church has had a “dancer” now for several years. A variety of persons of different ages have
been involved. If you are interested in
learning more about this worship ministry or have a desire to participate,
please feel free to contact the Church Office (775-5362) or Jackie Soltman,
Laurie Kinney, or Clara Handy. A plan
for this coming year due to busy schedules is to have several small groups
dancing throughout the year. Please give
this ministry some prayerful consideration.
If you have a young child who wants to be involved, make that call for
them. Thank you!
