THE GATHERING TO WORSHIP
PRELUDE
BRINGING IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST
WELCOME AND PARISH NOTES
*CALL TO WORSHIP
One: It is still Christmas.
All: Joy is still loose in the world,
One: Love is lodged in hearts,
All: and peace is still our fervent hope.
One: It is still Christmas,
All: Though the presents are all unwrapped,
One: The batteries have run down,
All: And family members have returned home.
One: It is still Christmas,
All: For God begins anew,
One: Giving us a baby to care for
All: And calling us to live with tender compassion, gentle care and overflowing love.

UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Almighty God, your love and power transform death into
life, despair into hope, lifeless stumps into tender shoots and a tiny baby
into the Prince of Peace. In the hearing of your Word and the repenting of our
sins, transform the hardness of our hearts into lives of receptivity, following
the Holy One who came to baptize us with the Holy Spirit and fire, Jesus
Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Praise God whose dawn transfigures night,

world draws nigh. Amen.
*PRAYER OF DEDICATION (in
unison)
We are thankful for the love that gave us life, for the mission that
gives us purpose and for the peace that Christ grants to us. Keep us from needless anxiety that we may
give without counting the cost. We give
ourselves as well as our money, that your Word may spread where it is not known
and take root where it has not been heeded.
Amen.
