PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND WORDS OF PROMISE
God of the heights and depths, at our own peril, we
turn away from you. When our shortcomings are exposed to your light, we wish to
hide. We fear your judgment; we forget your mercy. When we are angry, we plot
little revenges and shun your desire for reconciliation and compassion. Your
ways are not our ways, for your ways are permeated with love. We look to you
from the petty darkness of our hiding places and hear your call to come into
the light.
Surround us, O God, with your forgiving light, that we
might live as people of peace and truth. Amen.

So bring him incense, gold and myrrh,
come, peasant, king to own him;
the King of kings salvation brings,
let loving hearts enthrone him.
This, this is Christ the King,
whom shepherds guard and angels sings;
haste, haste to bring him laud, the babe, the son of Mary.
*PRAYER OF DEDICATION (In
unison)
Wise God, we bear our gifts to you as our homage for your presence in
our lives. Take these gifts, make them
be an instrument in the world for those in need. Remind us that your generosity to us far
surpasses anything we might give to you _ teach us to respond the best we can. With your blessing on these gifts here today,
we thank you. Amen.
