PRAYER
Prince of Peace, you came to us in
the form of a child, in the weakness and vulnerability of an infant. Your lowly birth reminds us that peace comes
to us when we throw off our arrogance and put on instead the cloak of
humility. May we have the courage today
to discard our petty differences and to bury our long-held grievances as we
worship you, the child of the manger. Amen.
SONG “There’s a Song” #2141
There’s a song of peace in my
heart; peace is a gift from Jesus.
There’s a song of peace in my heart;
peace is a gift from God.
Alleluia! Peace in my heart is singing praises.
Alleluia! Peace is a gift from God.
UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND
WORDS OF PROMISE
Holy God, come quickly and lighten
our darkness. Lift us from mindless
repetition of well‑known carols.
Enliven our reading of the familiar story. Prepare us to be comforted and confronted.
Holy Child, your coming will
disturb us, will expose our failure to love, our lack of concern for others,
our pride in the things we have earned and bought. Come quickly so we do not
forget that you give us our life, our security, our peace. Heaven,
shed your dew; clouds, rain down salvation; earth, bring forth the Savior. Come quickly, Lord Jesus. Amen.

Hope in the God who reigns above,

*PRAYER OF DEDICATION (In unison)
The voice of one crying in the
wilderness calls us to prepare your way, O Lord. Among the sounds of society you choose to
reveal your will. Amid its clamor, we
yearn to hear voices seeking your mercy.
Send us forth with clear minds so that your way is proclaimed with
foresight. And grant us your benediction
so that our acts are sanctified by your grace.
Amen.

to go the King’s Storehouse Pantry at the First Baptist Church.

2005 Financial Pledges may be turned in
through the end of the year. Extra
pledge cards are available in the pew pockets or on the table in the church
entryway. The Finance Committee wants to
thank the congregation for a faithful response to date, but we have a ways to

Please prayerfully consider a financial pledge toward our church’s
ministry.
Special Notice •
Caution: Twice in the last year, we have
experienced damage to underground electrical wiring that was difficult to
locate and costly to repair; the second time was early in November. We also have underground water lines to our
sprinkling system. To all individuals
and committees: Please contact someone from the Trustees
before doing ANYTHING that breaks the surface of the
ground, so that future damage can be prevented.
Thank you from the Trustees.
If you are “flying”
to a warmer climate this winter, please call the church office at
775-5362. Mail can be forwarded or held for
you. Your notice helps us to keep
expenses for returned mail to a minimum.
Interested in
ringing?? Our Bell Choir, under
the very capable leadership of director, Tonja Hinkston, is looking for another ringers
or two. Reading music is NOT essential. Bell Choir practice is at 9:30 a.m. today
in the choir room. Come along and
give it a try.
You may still give to
the Tools of Hope which includes the Blanket Ministry. From tents, blankets, and other emergency
supplies for survivors of the earthquake that devastated Bam, Iran, to
emergency food rations, blankets, candles and matches and plastic sheeting in
the wake of monsoon flooding in parts of India, shelter needs come in all
shapes and sizes. A warm blanket costs
just $5 but can make a big difference between health and sickness.
Needing a Christmas
gift for a loved one?? Give a gift to the
Tools of Hope and Blanket project. We
will provide a card for gift giving.
Cards will be available on the table in the Narthex.
