CONFESSION AND WORDS OF PROMISE
Glorious God of
power and majesty, you bow down to hear our every sigh; deliver us from arrogance
and empty vanities. Present us from
trying to raise ourselves by lowering the position of others. Cast down our pride that we may grown in
humility. Take away the barriers of
self-defense; grant us the firm security that comes from trust in you and is
built with neighborly cooperation and mutual respect. Lead us in the lowly steps of Jesus until we
attain the end of a pure joy and eternal victory through Christ, our Lord and
Savior. Amen.

Today’s “Loose Plate” offering
will go for the Tools of Hope which includes the Blanket Ministry. Like the Holy family two thousand years ago,
more than 35 million people today need a safe place to lay their head. That is
why helping to meet the need for shelter is a major part of the Church World
Service Tools of Hope & Blanket Program.
From tents, blankets, and other
emergency supplies for survivors of the earthquake that devastated Bam, Iran,
to emergency food rations, blankets, candles and matches and plastic sheeting
in the wake of monsoon flooding in parts of India, shelter needs come in all shapes
and sizes. We can help these people with
our “Loose Plate” offering. A warm blanket costs just $5 but can make a
big difference between health and sickness.
Needing a Thanksgiving gift for a loved
one?? Give a gift to the Tools of Hope and Blanket project. We will provide a card for gift giving. Cards will be available on the table in the
Narthex.
This month our gifts of staple food
products and paper products will go to OASIS/Family Resource Center.
A BIG Thank You for each person
who worked on the Holiday Bazaar, donated items, ate lunch, cleaned up or in
any way helped or supported this large mission project. You are deeply appreciated. Thanks ever so much!!
If you are “flying” to a warmer climate
this winter, please call the church office at 775-5362. We can forward your mail or hold it for
you. Your notice to us helps to keep
expenses for returned mail at a minimum.
Thanks so much!
Our Chancel Flowers this morning are
given in honor of Kelli Cummings “half” birthday (8½ ) from her family.
Over the next several weeks, Pastor Dale
will be preaching on themes from the Study Guide, “Gifts: The Joy of Serving
God.” Even if you are not in one of the
study groups, these sermons will encourage you in your daily walk with
God. Today’s message: “The Ministry of the Mundane.” Next week’s sermon: “Servanthood’s
Bell-Shaped Curve.”
If you ordered Sub Sandwiches and/or
Caramel Apples from the JD’s and have not yet received them, please
pick up your order after the worship service today.
Please note:
Our church’s audiotape duplicating machine is back from being
serviced. Tapes will be available.
Flowers for 11/21/04 (2
arrangements - one for Gekelers to read)
The flowers on the
Lord’s Table are presented to the glory of God and in celebration of the
birthdays of Robbie (18th), Harold (19th) Mary (20th)
and Harold and Marvel’s 63rd Wedding Anniversary on November
22. Harold celebrated his 90th
Birthday November 19.
Our sincere thanks
to Pastor Dale and the congregation for your prayers during Gordon’s health
problems. He appreciated Pastor’s
visits, and Gordon is especially pleased with the prayer quilt. He’s making good use of it as he recuperates
at home from a serious infection.
With love, Gordon
and Isabelle Cole
The church as a new
phone system which makes it possible to leave voice mail messages
for the staff. If you call during the
day and wish to
leave a voice mail,
just tell the secretary. If you call
after business hours, the message will direct you.
Interested in
ringing?? Our Bell Choir, under
the very capable leadership of director, Tonja Hinkston, is looking for another
ringers or two. Reading music is NOT
essential. Bell Choir practice is at
9:30 a.m. today in the choir room.
Come along and give it a try.
You are cordially invited to attend our
23rd Annual All Church Thanksgiving Dinner
