Boersma’s Greenhouse which supplies our wonderful Christmas and Easter flowers is having another Plant Sale in our church parking lot on Saturday, May 22.  All items will be reasonably priced.  The sale on May 8 netted $99 for the church from persons purchasing from our congregation.

For Changes in Activities for the Week

The Staff-Parish Relations Committee is seeking to fill the position of Nursery Care Provider for Sunday morning worship services (8:15 - 12:15).  This is a paid position @ $8.50 per hour or $34.00 for the morning. Applicants must be 18 years of age.  We are willing to divide the time between two individuals.  Job description and application are available at the church office. Refer questions to Pastor Dale or Pat Schroeder, Chairperson of the Staff-Parish Relations Committee.

 

 

Boy Scout Troop 125 again will retire flags on Memorial Day.  Everyone is welcome to bring in their old flags and attend this meaningful ceremony on Monday, May 31 at 7:00 p.m. at the fire bowl on the south side of the church yard.

 

 

The 7th Annual Dale Nathan Maxwell Walk for a cure for Cystic Fibrosis will be Saturday, May 22 at the Rotary Arts Pavilion on Lake Cadillac from 8:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.   For more information contact Tom Maxwell.

 

 

The Junior Disciples are planning to hold a Rummage Sale on June 10 and 11.  This will help them raise funds for their Mission Trip this summer.  YOU HELP IS NEEDED: remember to save your clean, usable items when you do your spring cleaning.  Set-up, sales help and clean-up volunteers are also needed.  See Becky Dorrell, Jane Wightman or Judy Coffey to volunteer.

 

 

The wonderful volunteer crew who do the yard work here at the church are looking for some additional  helpers.  Tasks would include mowing, weed-wacking, tending the planted areas around the church and church signs.  If you are able and willing to help, please contact Pat or Donna McCormick.

 

 

Methodist Men will be having their regular meeting on Thursday, May 27at 6 p.m., in the Corbin Room.  Following our always outstanding potluck we will hear a very timely program on Immigration and its related problems by Bob Eggle whose personal experiences with this topic should provide us with real insight.  Meetings Hosts are `anonymous’ and his little brother, `synonymous.’

Chancel Flowers this morning are presented in loving memory of Dale Maxwell from his family and in loving memory of Arden Peterson from Ruth and family.

 

Secret Saint Sunday will be held at 11:00 worship service next Sunday.  We will reveal who has been the Secret Saint for our various college students and persons in the military.  In addition we hope to welcome home these students and service people and see what they have been doing and learn of their future plans.  A special Coffee Hour will follow worship.

 

Funeral Services for Amy Hutton will be held this afternoon at the Reyers North Chapel Funeral Home, at the corner of Three Mile and Fuller Roads in Grand Rapids at 3:00 p.m..  Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

 

Spring Yard Clean-Up will be held Saturday, May 22 beginning at 9:00 a.m..  Bring a rake, put on your work gloves and come help spruce up the church yard.  Coffee and donuts will be available.

 

United Methodist Women’s Sewing and Bazaar Workshop will be held on Wednesday, May 17 beginning at 9:30 a.m..

 

A small prayer group meets on Wednesdays at noon you are invited to be a part of this ministry, please join us in the Education Wing.  Depending upon interest, we hope to form several groups.  Please see Bedonna Davis or Debbie Ostema if you have questions or prayer requests.
