*CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:                                                      We have seen the light of God;

People: on high mountains of celebration and

            in the ecstacy of a lover's embrace.

Leader:                                                      We have seen the light of God;

People: through the bitter scorn of betrayal and

            the searing chasm of grief.

Leader:                                                      We have seen the light of God;

People: with eyes that have been shaded,

            with eyes that have been opened,

            with eyes that have been blinded.

Leader:                                                      We have seen the light of God.

Mighty God, stay with us always,

as we worship and

as we share

the risk and challenge of living our faith.

By your powerful Spirit, turn our fear

to courage and our confusion to confidence.

Your glory shines in the face of Christ.

Shine in our hearts and lives.

May your name be praised, glorious God!

Amen.

Cadillac Area Lenten Breakfasts

Sponsored by the Cadillac Area Ministerial Association

7:00 a.m. to 7:50 a.m. each Wednesday

You are cordially invited to breakfast each Wednesday during Lent beginning on Ash Wednesday, February 25.  The time together will include breakfast, special music, singing and a meditation. Breakfast begins at 7:00 a.m. and ends promptly at 7:50 a.m. so you may be to work on time or on to other business of the day.  A freewill offering is received for the breakfast.  The ENTIRE community (men, women and youth) is invited to attend.  This week’s Lenten Breakfast will be held at the Church of Discovery • 1138 Burlingame with Nancy Barton as our speaker.  Invite a friend to come with you to breakfast.  It could be life changing!

Methodist Men have their sights set on Thursday, February 26 at 6:00 p.m., when, following their “always outstanding” potluck”, they will enjoy a program on the outdoors as presented by Butch Soltman.  Butch has many years of experience as a fishing, hunting and hiking guide; he will share some of it with the men.  Bring a friend and join us.  Davy Crockett and Bill Dance will be the hosts.

We so appreciate your generous donations of food for a funeral luncheon or other functions, however, we find that there are many extra serving dishes and pans left in the church kitchen.  Please check in the kitchen for yours.

Volunteers will hold three Yard Sales again this summer to benefit the work of Love In the Name of Christ.  Although the snow is still flying, many of you are eager to start cleaning closets, basements and garages at the first sign of spring.  Please keep Love INC in mind, as your donations are needed to make this effort a success.  Call the Love INC office at 779-1888 or 877-633-0556 for drop off or pick up information.

Ash Wednesday Worship

February 25 at 7:00 p.m.

Come and share in this quiet, meaningful worship which will include hymns, scripture, readings, the imposition of ashes, a choral anthem, Holy Communion and reflective moments.  Let us begin our Lenten journey together.

The Senior High Youth Group will be taking part in the “30 Hour Famine” again this year.  They will meet at the church Friday, February 27 after school until Saturday evening to fight world hunger and to begin to decorate the new youth lounge.  They will be looking for sponsors this morning.

Have you ever wondered who is this John Wesley character United Methodists keep mentioning?  The Seekers Sunday School Class is having a short series on Wesley and the jolt he gave to the religion of his day - and ours.  Please join us at 9:30 a.m. in the last classroom on the right in the education wing.
