UNISON PRAYER

Resurrected Savior, Savior of new life and new hope, we come to you in humble prayer and joyous song, for Easter has changed our lives. We are no longer frightened people - because you live, we have courage to face life and to face death. We are no longer lonely people - because you live, we can accept ourselves and reach out to each other. We are no longer scattered people - because you live, we may come together to worship and to witness in our weakness and our strength, in the presence of your reign among us and the promise of your reign to come. Amen.

For Changes in Activities for the Week

Info Source 775-4636 - Message #3152

Your generous giving last Sunday made it possible for the Confirmation Class to give $300 toward the Youth Ministry at the United Methodist Community House in Grand Rapids.  Thank you ever so much for caring!

Beginning this week, the Small Prayer Group will begin meeting on Thursdays at noon in the Education Wing.  Please see Bedonna Davis or Debbie Ostema if you have questions or prayer requests.

Boy Scout Troop 125 again will retire flags on Memorial Day.  Everyone is welcome to bring in their old flags and attend this meaningful ceremony on Monday, May 31 at 7:00 p.m. at the fire bowl on the south side of the church yard.

An All Church Rummage Sale will be held on June 10 and 11. The proceeds will be used for the JD’s Mission Trip to Missouri in July.  YOUR HELP IS NEEDED:  remember to save your clean, usable items when you do your spring cleaning.  Set-up, sales help and clean-up volunteers are also needed. Please sign-up on the insert.  Bring your donations beginning the week of June 6.

The wonderful volunteer crew who do the yard work here at the church are looking for some additional  helpers.  Tasks would include mowing, weed-wacking, tending the planted areas around the church and church signs.  If you are able and willing to help, please contact Pat or Donna McCormick.

Let’s Get Moving Update:  The number of people from the church interested in improving their fitness and health is growing every week.  As the deadline to register grew closer 26 people had signed up to participate.  This group concerned about their health wish to get more exercise.  It is a proven fact that regular physical exercise improves overall health, helps you to sleep, improves confidence and provides a greater sense of well being.  There is still time to sign up and get moving.  See Barb Wild or Lisa Kassuba for registration materials and enjoy the beauty of our world.

Hope Network (NOC) Celebrity Server Night will be on Monday, June 7 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Big Boy Restaurant.  Our own Judy Coffey is one of the “Celebrity Servers.”

Secret Saint Sunday is this morning.  We reveal who has been the Secret Saint for our various college students and persons in the military.  In addition, we hope to welcome home these students and service people.  A special Coffee Hour will follow.

Next Sunday, May 30, we will be celebrating Pentecost during both worship services.  Pentecost is the celebration of the coming of the Holy Spirit and the Birthday of the Church.  The sanctuary will be “ablaze.”  You are invited and urged to wear something red to church - scarf, tie, sweater, jacket, top.

We will also be honoring the 2004 graduating High School Seniors at the 11:00 a.m. worship. A Special Coffee Hour follows.  Come & celebrate!!

Methodist Men will be having their regular meeting on Thursday, May 27 at 6:00 p.m. in the Corbin Room.  Following our always outstanding potluck, we will hear a very timely program on Immigration and its related problems by Bob Eggle whose personal experiences with this topic should provide us with real insight.  Hosts for the meeting are “anonymous” and his little brother “synonymous”.

The Staff-Parish Relations Committee is seeking to fill the position of Nursery Care Provider for Sunday morning worship services (8:15 - 12:15).  This is a paid position @ $8.50 per hour or $34.00 for the morning. Applicants must be 18 years of age.  We are willing to divide the time between two individuals.  Job description and application are available at the church office. Refer questions to Pastor Dale or Pat Schroeder, Chairperson of the Staff-Parish Relations Committee.

Your grocery receipts from Carter’s Food Stores in Cadillac or Lake City may still be turned in at the church to obtain funds used for projects by the United Methodist Women.  A box for them is located in Fellowship Hall.

Volunteers will hold three Yard Sales again this spring/summer to benefit the work of Love In the Name of Christ.  Although the snow is still flying, many of you are eager to start cleaning closets, basements and garages at the first sign of spring.  Please remember Love INC, as your donations are needed to make this a success.  Call the Love INC at 779-1888 for drop off or pick up information.

We so appreciate your generous donations of food for a funeral luncheon or other functions, however, we find that there are many extra serving dishes and pans left in the church kitchen.  Please check in the kitchen for yours.
