BRINGING IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST
WELCOME AND PARISH NOTES
*CALL TO WORSHIP
One: With a heart as soft as a baby's skin,
All: With wonder as holy as the depth of an
infant's eyes,
One: We come to worship.
All: With joy as abundant as a toddler's
giggle,
One: With excitement as contagious as a child's
first steps,
All: We gather for worship.
One: With hope as wondrous as a child's first
words,
All: With praise as awesome as a youth choir,
One: We come to sing and pray. We gather to be
blessed and encouraged.

UNISON PRAYER
Loving God, whose will is broader than
out best traditions and whose mercy runs deeper than our finest sympathies,
speak your Word to set us free from attitudes that cripple, habits that are
hurtful and dispositions that divide.
Enlist us as willing disciples so others may meet Jesus Christ through
us. Amen.

*PRAYER OF BLESSING
At the beginning of a new school year,
O God of wisdom, we offer thanks and praise for the gift of new beginnings and
for the opportunity to learn and wonder.
We pray for teachers, students, support staff and administrators that
this year might be rewarding for all. Be
with each of them as they face the challenge of new tasks, the fear of failure,
the expectations of parent, friends, community and self. In our learning and our teaching, may all
grow in service to others and in love for your world, through Christ we
pray. Amen.

Sermontime Helpers Needed
for 2004-2005: Do you enjoy working with
children? If so, perhaps you would
consider helping with our Sermontime program.
Each Sunday during the 11:00 service, the K-3rd graders are dismissed to
attend Sermontime. Our church has just
begun using the Kid’s Own Worship program. As a Sermontime leader you will be mailed a
20-30 minute lesson plan to follow when it is your turn. Usually, you will be called upon to lead
about 3 or 4 times per year. If you have
questions about being a Sermontime leader or if you would like to volunteer,
please see Marian Fuller or Debbie Ostema (775-5362)
The Staff-Parish
Relations Committee is seeking a permanent substitute Nursery Care Giver
for the first Sunday of each month.
This is a paid position. Please
contact Pastor Dale Ostema (775-5362) or Pat Schroeder if you have questions or
wish to apply for the position.
If you are planning on
attending this year’s Cadillac Area Parade of Homes, September 10-19,
tickets may be purchased at the church office for $5.00. The proceeds from
tickets purchased through the church will go to Wexford County Habitat for
Humanity.

we find that there are many extra serving dishes and pans left in the
