*CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:     Although the beckoning star heeded by wise travelers long ago no longer leads the way,

People:     The manger-born Christ is still to be found and followed

Leader:     We are not brought to our knees in surprise as were those journeyer of old,

People:     Yet our desire to worship can be as deep as theirs.

Leader:     And though we do not bear gifts of gold, frankincense

and myrrh,

People:     We offer ourselves and what we have.

Leader:     The story continues.  The good news abounds.  There is a living Christ to discover, worship and serve.

People:     Let us rejoice and be glad!

Prayer Hymn

O God, Our Words Cannot Express Tune: ST. ANNE CM "O God, Our Help in Ages Past"

O God, our words cannot expressThe pain we feel this day.Enraged, uncertain, we confessOur need to bow and pray.

We grieve for all who lost their lives...And for each injured one.We pray for children, husbands, wivesWhose grief has just begun.

O Lord, we're called to offer prayerFor all world leaders, too.May they, amid such great despair,

Be wise in all they do.

We trust your mercy and your grace; In you we will not fear!May peace and justice now embrace!Be with your people here!

The Finance Committee is continuing to receive 2005 Financial Pledges.  Extra pledge cards are available in the pew pockets or on the table in the church entryway.  Please make an effort to submit your card as soon as possible.  We also thank all who have participated in our “Give Until It Heals” financial campaign.  Please prayerfully consider a financial commitment toward the mission and ministry of our church.

The 2005 Flower Calendar is available this morning in the narthex.  You may sign up for flowers in memory or in honor of a person or special occasion. The information is printed in the Sunday bulletin. The flowers are $15 and are used for Sunday worship; then may be taken for your enjoyment and use.

Appeal for Southeast Asia Emergency Relief

The relief agency of The United Methodist Church (UMCOR) is appealing for support – and offering an online site for donations –to assist thousands of Southeast and Southern Asian survivors of one of the most devastating earthquakes and series of tidal waves in recorded history. Currently, UMCOR’s response is focusing on empowerment providing resources to local people so they can direct their recovery,” said Linda Beher, communications director UMCOR.  Cash donations are the most important contribution people can make at the moment, she added.  Remember 100% of your donation to UMCOR goes to the need to which it was given.

The web address for direct donations to UMCOR for the SE Asia relief is https://secure.umcom.org/giving/default.asp?causeID=9522

For complete information, go to www.umc.org . Contributions may also be made through your local church to the Advance Special #274305, Southeast Asia Emergency Relief.

We so appreciate your generous donations of food for funeral luncheons or other functions, however, we often find that there are many extra serving dishes and pans left in the church kitchen.  Please check in the kitchen for yours.  Thank you!

E·piph_·ny means revelation/manifestation - like the Magi of old we now “go tell” the world about the birth of Jesus.  Holy Communion will be served.  Rev. Emery Hinkston will be instituting the Sacrament at 8:30 worship and Pastor Allen McCreedy at 11:00 worship.  A Special Coffee Hour follows each service complete with King’s Cake and Prizes.

Our “Loose Plate” offering this morning will go to Justice for Our Neighbors, Advance #982947, an UMCOR ministry housed at Grand Rapids First United Methodist Church.  The mission of JFON is to provide high-quality immigration legal services free of charge, and to foster greater cross-cultural community building and deeper moral reflection about the justness of current United States immigration policies through education for mission and advocacy.

First Sunday donations of staple food and paper products will be given to OASIS, a local shelter for women and children.

Please note the church has hearing assistance devices for use during worship.  These can be used by persons with or without hearing aids.  Also available are LARGE PRINT HYMNALS and LARGE PRINT BULLETINS.

If you are “flying” to a warmer climate this winter, please call the church office at 775-5362.  Mail can be forwarded or held for you.  Your notice helps us to keep expenses for returned mail to a minimum.

Check out our church Website – take a peek at www.umccadillac.org.   Lots of good information and many links.  You can get your own e-mail address off the site.  The Sunday bulletin is also posted.

Special Notice • Caution:  Twice in the last year, we have experienced damage to underground electrical wiring that was difficult to locate and costly to repair; the second time was early in November.  We also have underground water lines to our sprinkling system.  To all individuals and committees: Please contact someone from the Trustees before doing ANYTHING that breaks the surface of the ground, so that future damage can be prevented.  Thank you from the Trustees.

Interested in ringing??  Our Bell Choir, under the very capable leadership of director, Tonja Hinkston, is looking for another ringers or two.  Reading music is NOT essential.  Bell Choir practice is at 9:30 a.m. today in the choir room.   Come along and give it a try.
