rest.”
People: We have come together in the name of Jesus
the Christ to worship the God who loves us and sing with the Spirit who fills
us.
Leader: It is good that we are here.
People: It is good that we are here by Christ’s invitation,
for his yoke is easy and his burden is
light.

UNISON PRAYER OF
CONFESSION AND WORDS OF PROMISE
Jesus invited us to come, bringing our heavy burdens
with us, to find rest and to learn his ways. We have tried to find rest and
peace so many ways without success. We have tried to keep up with the
Joneses, only to find ourselves heavy in debt.
We have tried to work our way to
excessive wealth,
only to earn a date with exhaustion.
We have sought to find rest and
relief through things and
activities that do not satisfy our deepest
longings;
but they have all failed. Help us to take your yoke upon us
and to learn from you.
Help us find rest for our souls by accepting your easier yoke.
It is in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

*PRAYER OF DEDICATION
(In unison)
God of Promise, many of us have
trouble discerning the Living Christ in our lives. Use these gifts to quiet the traffic and turmoil
of life's stresses. Enable us through
our faithful giving to discover a deeper reverence for Jesus' gentle and humble
message. Lift our heavy burdens, so we
can prayerfully respond to the peace and the calm repose that you provide for
us today and forever. In the name of
Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

Communion Prayer
Let us
lift up our hearts.........We lift them to the Lord.
Let us
give thanks to the Lord our God. ........It is
right to give our thanks and praise.
It is
indeed right to give you our thanks and praise, O God, for with the passion of
a lover you have delivered us from slavery to sin and death. You are the
Creator and Lord of heaven and earth, and it is your Word that brings life into
bloom. You sent among us your child, Jesus the Christ, and in him you revealed
yourself to us. We give you thanks that though we were burdened
and wearied by
sin and unable to dance to your song,in gentleness
and humility your Son Jesus lifted our burdens and showed us the way of wisdom.
When he was killed, you raised him to life, rescuing
us from our bodies of death and giving us rest for our souls. Therefore, with
our hearts lifted high, we offer you thanks and praise at all times through
Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one
God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Come
march in the 4th of July Parade TODAY, July 3. We have
our truck, trailer, scenery and now we just need YOU to walk or ride as part of
our church Vacation Bible School float. The line-up begins at the Junior
High School at 4:15p.m.. You need to be there no later
than 4:45 p.m.. The parade begins at 5:00 p.m.. Those walking will be passing out VBS flyers. We ask
that children come with a parent who will stay with them until the parade is
over. Kids will receive a cowboy hat to wear. Adults are invited to wear their
western wear too.
Come, join in the fun at our Veggie
Tales Family Fun Night on this Saturday night, July 9 at 7:00 p.m. You will
learn about Larry*s better way to deal with bullies and also be one of the
first to watch "Minnesota Cuke and the Search of
Samson*s Hairbrush". Movie treats and lots of Veggie Tales
surprises to take home with you.
Adopt-a-Highway
Clean-Up: The second clean-up of the season will be held on Saturday,
July 16 at 9:00 a.m.. Anyone over 12 is welcomed and
invited to help pick-up the highway. Questions or more information, see Paul
Helton.
Sr. High Camp scholarships are available through our
District for any youth attending this year*s Senior High Camp at Lake Louise
from July 24 - 30. These are $275 scholarships! Interested youth should
speak with Pastor Ostema.
Youth camping opportunity. "For Pete*s Sake, the Crazy Adventures of Peter the
Disciple!" at
Naomi Circle will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday,
July 21 for lunch at Lakeside Charlie*s. Please call either Donna Welsh or
Donna Slachter by July 17 for reservations.
Like to
camp & hike? Adults needed to take youth in foster care and/or
juvenile justice system on short camping trip. Dept. of Human Services
(formerly FIA) with Love INC*s help is looking for a few volunteers who would
be willing to take a small group of 3 or 4 youth on a weekend camping
experience. All supplies and associated costs would be covered by DHS. Lead
volunteer should have first aid/CPR training as well as camping/hiking
experience and the desire to work with youth. If you are at all interested in
learning more, contact Bedonna Davis at the DHS
office at 779-4559. You could make a tremendous contribution to the life of a
child!

Flowers on the Lord*s Table this morning are given by Gary and Yvonne Bandelow in memory of Gary*s parents, Art and Marge Bandelow.
Our Loose
Plate Offering, today, will go to The Appalachia Service Project (ASP)
which is a grass roots ministry that repairs homes in America*s most destitute
area. ASP has a back to basics earthy style, as well as their desire to accept
people how they are and where they are. ASP gives as much to their communities
as humanly possible, operates with a very small paid staff and a generous
amount of unpaid volunteers. Opulence is not their style. Please take a moment
and look at the display board in the narthex. Thank you! We are also receiving
non-perishable food products and paper products for the needy this morning.
Craft
Leader, Helen Quinn needs your stuff for Vacation Bible School. Needed:
aluminum pie pans-new or used, bandanas (any color or
age) & small Pringles or peanut cans. Put your donations in the box by the
VBS information area in the Fellowship Hall.
Following
the Parade today, stay down in the park for the first of a Summer Concert
Series presented by Temple Hill. Sojourn, a folk-pop-rock breezy
guitar, and a generous portion of religious imagery with some patriotism thrown
in, will perform at 6:00 p.m.
