CLIP BOARD MINISTRY FOR SEPTEMBER
*CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: God has given us holy hands:
People: Hands to caress a deep ache, a tight knot of stress and
tension;
Leader: Hands to hold a hurt
child, embrace a lonely friend, care for one who is ill;
People: Hands to create a loving meal or a work of art;
Leader: Hands to till the soil and make a bed;
People: Hands to write to one in need or call another with good news.
Leader: God has given us holy hands,
People: Hands to bring God's touch to earth and to do God's will.

*SHARING THE PEACE OF CHRIST
PRAYER HYMN #641
“Fill
My Cup, Lord”
UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND
WORDS OF PROMISE
Creating God, you took earth and
worked it into a holy shape and breathed life into man and woman. You worked to
bring forth beauty and a harmony of relationships. And when your work was done,
you said it was good.
Forgive us, O Lord, when we forget
that you are the God of Creation. Give
us the strength and vision to work kindly on your earth and to work toward your
reign of justice and peace.
Couch our hearts with compassion so
we remember those who make life livable:
the farmers and laborers who work to
provide food, those who keep the water clean and the electricity flowing, those
who clean up after us.
Touch our will to do justice:
for those without work and many whose gifts
are underused, for there is pain and hurt in our world. In
the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Amen.

*PRAYER OF DEDICATION (In unison)
Your love, O God, binds us together
in ways we could never achieve on our own.
We give thanks for all your gracious activities in people's lives now
and in the past. We offer these gifts
and the service of our lives as signs of our gratitude and willingness to make
your love known through our witness to, and love for, neighbors nearby and far
away. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen
SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION
The Invitation to the Table
Great Thanksgiving for Labor Day
Sunday
One: The Lord be with
you.
All: And also with you.
One: Lift up your hearts.
All: We lift them up to the Lord.
One: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
All: It is right to give our thanks and praise.
It is a good and fruitful work to
give thanks to you, Almighty God, in all places and at all times and in all our
tasks. In our cars, our homes, our offices, our fields, and
our kitchens; at our tables, our desks, our telephones, and computers; when we
are resting or waiting, laboring or supervising, following or leading.
All these we do with all your people now on earth and all the multitude of
heaven, praising your name and joining in their unending hymn:
All: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and
might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed
is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
Holy are you and holy is your work
among us in Jesus Christ, who came to be born in the home of a carpenter, a trade he learned and practiced,
a laborer in our midst. He called out fishermen and activists. He healed the
servant of a solder. He received the support of resourceful women. He delegated
his ministry to his disciples, empowered all his followers to do his divine
work in this world. By his suffering, death, and resurrection, you gave birth
to your church, delivered us from the bondage of sin and the power of death and
made with us a new covenant by water and the Spirit.
On the night in which he gave
himself up for us, he took bread, gave thanks to you, broke the bread, gave it
to his disciples, and said: "Take, eat; this is my body which is given for
you. Do this in remembrance of me."
When the supper was over, he took the cup, gave thanks to you, gave it
to his disciples, and said:
"Drink from this, all of you;
this is
my blood of the new covenant,
poured
out for you and for many
for the
forgiveness of sins.
Do this, as often as you drink it,
in remembrance of me."
And so as a baptized and
commissioned people, remembering your mighty work in Jesus Christ, we offer
ourselves, our daily lives, and our unique locations for ministry in the world-
homes and hospitals, parks and stores, prisons and concert halls- as a living
and holy sacrifice in union with Christ's offering for us as we proclaim the
mystery of faith.
All: Christ
has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.

Our Loose Plate Offering will
go towards helping those devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Katrina carried heavy
rains and high winds that brought catastrophic damage to the Gulf Coast. UMCOR
is there, responding to the needs of thousands of people affected by this
disaster. UMCOR will continue to provide assistance to the people left most
vulnerable by this storm for years to come.

Renovations Have Begun
The replacement of our church roof
is scheduled to begin in the next week or so. We are anticipating that all the
roofing will be delivered soon.
The last Highway Clean-up of
the season will be held on Saturday, September 17 beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the
church parking lot. Many hands make for
light work; mark your calendar and come along to help - anyone 12 or older is
welcome.
Church Photo Directory: There are still a few appointments
available for the September 14 and 15 dates. Both members and friends of the
church are invited to be photographed. Please contact Kay Hinkston
for an appointment.
There will be a brief UMW meeting
following the worship services on September 11 to discuss the Holiday Bazaar.
Please plan on attending as your help is needed!
If you are planning to attend this
year’s Parade of Homes Tour, you may purchase tickets in the church
office. The cost per ticket is $5.00. The proceeds from these direct sales will
go to Love, Inc. or Wexford County Habitat for Humanity.
As more and more clients contact Love,
INC. in financial trouble due to poor money management on a thin
income, we again find ourselves in need of caring Christians who are willing to
volunteer as budget helpers. We believe
that teaching financial accountability is the approach to take first, before
simply asking a church to pay a bill without responsibility on the part of the
client. You will be trained by the
director of our Budget Program, given forms and materials, and be asked to
volunteer only approximately one hour per week with the client assigned to
you. You can truly make a difference in
the life of someone who has not had a caring mentor or parent who has taught
them financial accountability. Please
call Diane Wood at the Love INC office, 779-1888 to learn more.
Mark your calendar now for the
October 6 meeting of Wesley Fellowship.
It will be held at Belle Oakes on LaChance
Road. Potluck with a
program to follow. Joe and Doris
will be helping to host that meeting beginning at 6:00 p.m..

The full extent of Hurricane
Katrina's devastation will not be known for some time, but United Methodists
around the world are not waiting to extend love and care to those in need. Your generous gift to UMCOR
Advance #982523, Hurricanes 2005 Global, will help those affected by
Hurricane Katrina. Remember - every penny of every dollar given to an Advance
Special in the United Methodist Church goes directly to those in need, because
your generous giving through Ministry
Shares
puts everything else in place to allow this to happen. Donations can be made today by contributing
to our Loose Plate offering or online through UMC.org’s
secure server. Visit the website for the
General Board of Global Ministries: http://gbgm-umc.org, and follow the links
to donate online.
Hey Moms! Before you completely fill up your fall
schedule with all those “good” things, consider the “best” thing that you can
do for your children...PRAY! Moms In Touch International (MITI) is an international
denominational organization of mothers meeting one hour each week to pray for
their children and the schools they attend. To learn more about this vital
ministry contact Ellie at 231-824-9314, mitiMirc2@MomsInTouch.org
or visit the MITI website: www.MomsInTouch.org.
The United Methodist Women
are requesting that you do not bring craft materials, fabric
and/or Attic Treasures or Bazaar items to the church, please, unless you have
spoken to Jean Stump, Carol Jones or Kay Hinkston. We are currently overstocked on fabric
& are out of storage space for other items. Thanks for your help!
The Chancel Choir will
resume rehearsing Wednesday, August 31 in the sanctuary. Our goal is to lead the congregation in worship,
praise God and sing a variety of music; we sing mostly SATB music. No auditions are required; only a desire to
offer praise to God. Questions, contact
Chancel Choir Director, Walt Stump. Come
on along!!
If you have good, useable jeans
your child has outgrown, the Community Service Center at Cadillac Seventh-Day
Adventist Church, 801 East Division, will gladly accept your donations on
Tuesdays from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. Many
families go there to get free clothing for school and jeans are always in demand. Your donation of jeans will help outfit a
local child for school. If you have any
questions, Penny Sluiter can be reached at the Center
on Tuesdays at 775-9331.
Pennies for a Purpose: If you would like a container for our Pennies for a
Purpose campaign, you may pick one up in the church narthex.
The Songs of the Shepherds
CD is available for purchase, only $6.00, this morning following worship. All proceeds go to Love INC.
If your church group is planning to
meet and has special set-up needs, please communicate that to custodian, Dee Piltz, by placing the request in her church office mail
box. Plan to notify Dee well enough in
advance so she can schedule a set up time.
Thank you.
Linens are needed for the Love INC’s Linen Pantry at the First Christian Church. They currently need the following items: Both
king and queen size fitted sheets and blankets, bath towels and wash cloths,
dish towels, dish
cloths and pot holders. If you have any
of these items in good condition to donate, please call Wanda, the coordinator
of the Linen Ministry at 779-1316.
Check out our church Website – take
a peek at www.umccadillac.org. Lots
of good information and many links. You can get your own e-mail address
off the site. The Sunday bulletin and
the monthly Newsletter are also posted.
We so appreciate your generous
donations of food for funeral luncheons or other functions, however, we often
find that there are many extra serving dishes and pans left in the church
kitchen. Please check in the kitchen for
yours. Thank you!
Please
note the church has hearing assistance devices, LARGE PRINT HYMNALS and
BULLETINS for use during worship.
