UNISON PRAYER

Temptations surround us, O God, and there is none that you have not seen before through your blessed Son.  You know about the confusion of bread and security, the pretenses of power, the idolatry of thinking we are above it all.  We give thanks that we are still in the walk of life and not above it–-and especially give you thanks that your Son showed us the way.  Through Jesus Christ who knew how to handle the temptations of life, we pray.  Amen.

            An Invitation . . .

to an All Church Lenten Study -- Christianity and Islam which will be offered on Sunday evenings, February 20 and February 27, March 6 and March 13 in the early evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m..

The evenings will include a meal, presentations and discussions (special on March 6, a time of worship.)  Presentations will be made to the group gathered using videos and persons knowledgeable about the topic.  Discussion around tables in small settings would be part of some sessions.  Our hope is to offer a balanced approach to this sensitive and timely topic.

            Study Sessions

February 20,  we will begin with a video presentation and discussion on The Tenets of Islam.  A Soup Supper will be served.

February 27, Joyce Seward will share her family experience as a parent and grandparent to her Muslim family.  Sloppy Joe’s, chips, veggies and cookies will be served.

March 6, our Senior High Youth will lead us in a special time of worship which will include the discussion topic: Christianity 101.  A Pizza Dinner will be served; snacks will follow the worship.

March 13, Imam Mohammad Mardini, a Muslim cleric from the Detroit area, will offer a presentation followed by a question-and-answer session.  We will have a Potluck Supper.  Please bring a dish to pass and your own table service.  Beverage will be provided.

Child care will be available.  Invite your friends, coworkers, neighbors and family to this timely Lenten Study.
