*CALL TO WORSHIP
One: We are welcomed here in the name of Jesus
Christ
All: to worship the God who cherishes us, and
to adore the Spirit who nurtures us.
One: God is always close to us; It is written:
All: “The word is near you, on your lips and
in your heart.”
One: God is always available to everyone; It is written:
All: “Everyone who calls upon the name of the
Lord shall be saved”.

PRAYER HYMNS
“I
Love You, Lord” #2068
“Jesus,
Name Above All Names” #2071
A LITANY OF CONFESSION
Let us commit our lives to the
mercy of God.
Let us pray.
Holy Friend, in the name of the Love
that takes away the sins of
the world, we put ourselves at your
mercy.
All: It is just as well that we do not see the
consequences of all our ignorant or ill considered actions, for the burden
would frighten us.
One: It is just as well that we do not comprehend
the shortcomings of all our wisest thoughts and kindest deeds, for such
knowledge would depress us.
All: It is just as well we cannot chart the
complete outworking of our many recognized faults and sins, for the grief would
overwhelm and cripple us.
One: It is well, very well, that you alone can
see the complete picture, and that you alone are capable of being the One who
“has born our griefs and carried our sorrows.”
All: It is well, very well, that we can repent
those things that we
are capable of recognizing and leave
all that, and everything else that is sadly amiss, in the arms of your infinite
mercy.
Through Christ Jesus our Redeemer
All: Amen!
WORDS OF FORGIVENESS
My sisters and brothers, it is
truly written: “Every one who calls on
the name of the Lord Jesus Christ will be rescued and healed.” Humbly embrace
the total forgiveness and the healing and liberating grace that is freely
offered to you, and you will be made new and young in
heart again.
All: Thanks
be to God!

We have received so much from you,
O God, and what we offer in return seems paltry by comparison. But we offer these

name of Jesus Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Renovations
to Begin
The new Fellowship Hall and front
entrance flooring will be laid beginning Monday, August 15. Please contact the church office (776-5362)
if you need to schedule ANY event or use space in the church in the next several
weeks, other than regular Committee meetings.
We need to coordinate the available space as we will not have the
Fellowship Hall available the weeks of August 15 and August 22. Some of the classrooms are being used for
temporary storage as the new flooring is being laid– so space is limited for
now. Next Sunday, the front entrance of
the church will be closed, plan to enter from the entrance by the kitchen or
the rear entrance.
The United Methodist Women
are requesting that you do not bring craft materials, fabric
and/or Attic Treasures or Bazaar items to the church, please, unless you have
spoken to Jean Stump, Carol Jones or Kay Hinkston. We are currently overstocked on fabric
& are out of storage space for other items. Thanks for your help!
Dorcas Circle will meet Tuesday, August 16 at
1:30 p.m. in the Cadillac City Park.
Susannah Wesley Circle will meet for lunch August 18 at
12:00 noon at Laura Lee’s. If attending,
please call Hazel Jarvis.
Naomi Circle will meet for a Potluck Lunch on
August 18 at 12:00 noon at Clara Handy’s home.
If you have good, useable jeans
your child has outgrown, the Community Service Center at Cadillac Seventh-day
Adventist Church, 801 East Division, will gladly accept your donations on
Tuesdays from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. Many
families go there to get free clothing for school and jeans are always in
demand. Your donation of jeans will help
outfit a local child for school. If you
have any questions, Penny Sluiter can be reached at
the Center on Tuesdays at 775-9331.
Love, INC. needs “A few good men or
women”. The Love Inc. office is
experiencing an increasing number of calls, and is in need of additional office
volunteers. If you can donate half or an
entire day per week to this very rewarding ministry, please call Executive
Director, Diane Wood at 779-1888 for more information.
Volunteers are needed to act as
either phone triage or telephone intake workers. Being here, you will quickly learn about the
enormous and varied needs of people throughout our area, and you will feel pride
in seeing how Christians respond when called upon to help.

appointments available for the September 14 and 15 dates. Both members and friends of the church are
invited to be photographed. You will

China Prayer Requests:
©
That
our Chinese and American team members might know the depth of God's love and
love one another as Jesus taught us to love.
©
That
the summer school students at New Beginnings Center might experience God's love
and that they might seek to know the source of that love.
©
For
healing for Andrew's mother (my Chinese friend) who has undergone extensive
surgery for throat cancer.
©
For
transformed lives on my campus and throughout the city as we seek to share
God's love with those we meet.
The Songs of the Shepherds
CD is available for purchase, only $6.00, this morning following worship. All proceeds go to Love INC.
If your church group is planning to
meet and has special set-up needs, please communicate that to custodian, Dee Piltz, by placing the request in her church office mail box. Plan to notify Dee well enough in advance so
she can schedule a set up time. Thank
you.
Linens are needed for the Love INC’s Linen Pantry at the First Christian Church. They currently need the following items: Both
king and queen size fitted sheets and blankets, bath towels and wash cloths,
dish towels, dish
cloths and pot holders. If you have any
of these items in good condition to donate, please call Wanda, the coordinator
of the Linen Ministry at 779-1316.
Check out our church Website – take
a peek at www.umccadillac.org. Lots of good information
and many links. You can get your
own e-mail address off the site. The
Sunday bulletin and the monthly Newsletter are also posted.
We so appreciate your generous
donations of food for funeral luncheons or other functions, however, we often
find that there are many extra serving dishes and pans left in the church
kitchen. Please check in the kitchen for
yours. Thank you!
Please note the church has hearing
assistance devices, LARGE PRINT HYMNALS and BULLETINS for use during worship.
