BRINGING IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST

WELCOME AND PARISH NOTES

*CALL TO WORSHIP

One:    All good gifts around us are sent from heaven above,

so thank our God

All:       For joy in living

One:    And patience in trouble;

All:       For rainbows after clouds

One:    And moonlight on the darkest night;

All:       For wisdom to walk the right path

One:    And peace to calm anxious worry;

All:       All good gifts around us are sent from heaven above,

One:    So let our song arise and give thanks for all God's love.

            “Love the Lord Your God”

UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Caring God, in our anxiousness, we cling tightly to familiar people. Afraid to extend our hand, we bind up our gifts, fearing we will not have enough for ourselves.

Loving Jesus, lacking trust in you, we clutch our possessions as if they are the meaning of life. Our hesitancy to share stops the flow of your compassion.

Gracious Spirit, we discount our ability and talents and miss

what is possible when Christ blesses our offering.Holy God, loosen our closed hands and tight hearts that we may offer the gift we are and the gifts we have, to touch this bruised world.  Let your compassion flow through us.  In the name of Jesus, our Savior.  Amen.

*DEDICATION OF OUR COMMITMENTS AND GIFTS

One:    O God, like the crowds who gathered on the hillsides hungry for your guidance, we have earnestly sought your direction.

All:       You have challenged us to take new steps of faithfulness in our pilgrimage of stewardship.

One:    With both our commitments and gifts, we come eager to see how they will be multiplex through the ministry of this church.

All:       We believe that You will faithfully use them in surprising and miraculous ways.

One:    Use us as you wish in this coming year, O God.

We offer our hearts to you.  Amen.
