BRINGING IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST

WELCOME AND PARISH NOTES

*CALL TO WORSHIP                   Based on Psalm 90 - The Prayer of Moses

One:    God has been our dwelling place in all generations.

Before the mountains were raised up,

before the universe was even formed,

God has been there for us.

All:      So let us live in the Lord,

rooted and established in the faith of Christ,

and abounding in thanksgiving.

One:   Love God, love your neighbor.

All the laws of Moses,

and all the teaching of the prophets,

hang on these two commandments.

All:      May the grace of God be upon us,

establishing whatever is loving in the work of our hands.

Yes, let God establish all that is loving in the work

of our hands.

The United Methodist Committee on Relief & ecumenical partner agencies are responding to the October 8 earthquake that shook Pakistan and India, leaving a death toll that some reports place at more than 30,000.  UMCOR is sending aid to the region through its partners, the International Blue Crescent and Church World Service.  Donations for the relief effort can be marked for UMCOR Advance #232000, Pakistan Earthquake and placed in the offering plates.

Bazaar Jewelry Boutique — Your old but good jewelry can be brought to the Church now as it must be cleaned, carded and priced for display and placed in the box on the table in the Fellowship Hall.  Questions, call Joan Irvine or Donna Slachter.

Also needed are items for the Treasure Boutique.  We need donations of really good stuff; no clothes, please. Things should be in very good condition – Key question:  Would you give them to a family member?

The Church & Society Committee would like to thank all the members of the congregation who helped to make our annual CROP Walk a success.  The total raised was $1,452 from our church.  With all the natural disasters, the funds will be put to good use.  25% will stay in the community to support the Community Food Pantry, Shepherd’s Table, Manton Food Pantry, Mesick Food Pantry and the Salvation Army.

The Durable Medical Equipment Ministry of Love, Inc. is in need of non-motorized wheelchairs.  There is currently a waiting list of clients who need one. If you are able to donate one, please contact Love, Inc. office at 779-1888 or JoJo Lucas, coordinator of the Durable Medical Equipment Ministry at 779-5238.

NEEDED:  There continues to be a shortage of twin and full size mattresses and bed frames in Love, INC’s Furniture Ministry.  If you have one to donate, please call their office at 779-1888.

We welcome the Children’s Choir this morning at the 11:00 worship service as they join with the Chancel Choir for the Choral Anthem.

Next Sunday, October 30, we will celebrate All Saints Sunday with the naming and remembering the Saints of our congregation who have passed away in the last year.  In addition, new members will be received into the church.  This is always a special time in the life of our congregation; plan to be present.
