PRELUDE

BRINGING IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST

WELCOME AND PARISH NOTES

*CALL TO WORSHIP

One:    Come, all who are thirsty for living water,

Open yourselves to the One who supplies it.

All:       We would drink this day from the spiritual depths,

seeking to know and experience life’s meaning.

One:    Gather as people of faith, embracing renewal,

eager for reconciliation with God and humankind.

All:       We have assembled to hear for ourselves

the good news Christ brings to all people.

One:    God meets and accepts us where we are,

helping us to know ourselves as we are known.

All:       We will worship with enthusiastic expectation

anticipating salvation in our lives and relationships.

            “Fill My Cup”                                                               (on insert)

UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION & WORDS OF ASSURANCE

O God, when we sense who you are, we know our own sin.  In our murmuring and fault-finding, we have forgotten your mercy.  With hardened hearts, we have ignored you needy children.  We have chosen to live in a desert place rather than asking for a drink of living water.  We have hoarded your blessings and forgotten they are for us to share.  Our wealth has impoverished us and our certainties have made us brittle.  Forgive us and inspire us to live the good news of your loving provision.  Amen.

What joy can there be, Loving God, in the giving and receiving of cool, refreshing water!  Thank you for the living water we have received from Christ and are privileged to share.  Bless the resources gathered today to sustain the programs and outreach of this church.  May they and we give fitting expression to our thankfulness.  Amen.
