All: Let us worship God!

PRAYER HYMN #641
“Fill
My Cup, Lord” Sing Twice
UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Merciful God, we confess that we
have been hardhearted. We have not given
bread to children who ask, unless they are our own. We have eaten second helpings as we passed by
the one on the street corner with the sign, “Will work for food.” And yet, we call you the bread of life, and
we know that we are created in your image.
Teach us to be better at nourishing others and less worried about our
own next meal. Give us the grace to
share and the courage to pursue your justice for all your children. Help us to be fed in every way by your Son,
in whose name we pray. Amen.

Eternal God, who gave us Jesus
Christ, the Bread of Love, we respond to your goodness by offering ourselves as
dough to be made alive by the leaven of the gospel. Knead us and mold us to fit your will for
us. Flavor us with the richness of
Christ’s teaching, shape us by his sacrificial love on our behalf, infuse us
with your Spirit, and send us forth to be bread for the world. Amen.

A new season of singing has
begun for our Chancel Choir. The
invitation is open to come share your musical talents in the Music Ministry of our
congregation as we seek to praise God through song and lead musically in
worship. There are no auditions; the
only requirement is a willingness to serve Christ and the Church through music. We have a place and a robe waiting for you. _
Equal Exchange Coffee and Tea will be available TODAY
following both services.

The September Loose Plate

Program. Our church buys books suitable
for preschool children and readers representing our congregation read to the
children on their birthdays in the classroom at the two Head Start buildings in
Cadillac. The children take the book
home as our gift. This is a great
outreach of our church; we are sharing the love of Christ and promoting a love
of reading. Please support this valuable
program on September 3.
The Christian Education
Committee is still looking for some additional enthusiastic persons willing
to teach children’s Sunday School this fall.
The current need is “co-teachers” for the classes. Please contact
Andrea Hillard or Pastor Ostema (775-5362), if interested.
The School Supply Pantry is
open. Supplies still needed are
Backpacks (especially larger ones); you may leave your donations in the box
in the narthex. Thanks so much!
