THE GATHERING TO WORSHIP

PRELUDE

BRINGING IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST

WELCOME AND PARISH NOTES

    *CALL TO WORSHIP

One:    How does God speak? God speaks in many ways!

In the bountiful creation around us:

“The midnight skies tell of God’s glory,

the midday sun displays holy handiwork.

All:       Each new day speaks God’s language,

and night after night knows more than it can tell.”

One:    Yet it is the cross of Jesus where God speaks most profoundly: “For talk of the cross sounds absurd to those who think they are sophisticated, but for us who are being saved, it is the power of God.”

All:       Let the way we speak and the way we think be acceptable in your sight O God our strength and our redeemer.

UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION

"The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims your handiwork," declares the psalmist.  And yet, days go by and we do not remember to say "thank you," God.  Help us to see the beauty of your creation, to slow down and enjoy the benefits of your many gifts.  Forgive us for being so caught up in our own importance that we forget who is responsible for everything!  You have given us so many blessings, but we cannot remember who we are and whose we are.  Enlighten our eyes, God, to use the gifts you have given us to your glory.  Amen.

You are invited to join “Grow Group”.  The purpose of this group is to provide a safe place to unveil the secret pain in our lives. We are here to find our voice, to share our stories, and learn and grow from our experiences.  We will be searching for truth and wisdom as we seek help from the Great Healer.  God created us to heal.  He urges us on to find wholeness.  This class provides an opportunity for that to happen. If you are hurting from the wounds of childhood sexual abuse and would like to join our Grow Group, contact Shirley Peterson or Amy Fite. The next 10 week class will begin on April 3.  The groups are limited and are confidential.
