THE GATHERING TO WORSHIP
PRELUDE
BRINGING IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST
WELCOME AND PARISH NOTES
*CALL TO WORSHIP
One: How does God speak? God speaks in many ways!
In the bountiful creation around
us:
“The midnight skies tell of God’s
glory,
the midday sun displays holy
handiwork.
All: Each new day speaks God’s language,
and night after night knows more than
it can tell.”
One: Yet it is the cross of Jesus where God
speaks most profoundly: “For talk of the cross sounds absurd to those who think
they are sophisticated, but for us who are being saved, it is the power of
God.”
All: Let the way we speak and the way we think
be acceptable in your sight O God our strength and our redeemer.

UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION
"The heavens are telling the glory
of God; and the firmament proclaims your handiwork," declares the
psalmist. And yet, days go by and we do
not remember to say "thank you," God.
Help us to see the beauty of your creation, to slow down and enjoy the
benefits of your many gifts. Forgive us
for being so caught up in our own importance that we forget who is responsible
for everything! You have given us so
many blessings, but we cannot remember who we are and whose we are. Enlighten our eyes, God, to use the gifts you
have given us to your glory. Amen.

Gracious and wise God, you give us
the freedom to relate to you through the love and sacrifice of Jesus
Christ. You empower us with the wisdom
of your Spirit to proclaim our deliverance from evil through the power of the cross. We offer these gifts and our lives as symbols
of our thanksgiving, praying that you will bless them and use them to proclaim
the wonders of your love. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Break
You are cordially
invited to the Cadillac Area Lenten Breakfasts each Wednesday during
Lent. This Wednesday, March 22, the
breakfast will be here at our church with our UMM preparing the breakfast and
Pastor Dale as host. The speaker is
Pastor Pete Byma from the Cadillac Christian Reformed Church. The time together includes breakfast, singing
and a meditation beginning at 7:00 a.m. and ending promptly at 7:50 a.m. so you
may be to work on time or on to other business of the day. A freewill offering will be received The entire
community is invited to attend. Invite a
friend to come – it could be life changing!
The United Methodist
Men will be meeting Thursday, March 23 in the Corbin room at 6:00 p.m. We will start with a “poor man’s catered
dinner” (potluck) followed by a program on the “State of the City” presented by
City Manager, Pet Stalker, and DPW Director, Bob Johnson. They will be telling us about recent and
upcoming city projects and ventures.
Jack Fitzgerald and his associate are hosts. Join us!
You are invited to join
“Grow Group”. The purpose of this
group is to provide a safe place to unveil the secret pain in our lives. We are
here to find our voice, to share our stories, and learn and grow from our
experiences. We will be searching for
truth and wisdom as we seek help from the Great Healer. God created us to heal. He urges us on to find wholeness. This class provides an opportunity for that
to happen. If you are hurting from the wounds of childhood sexual abuse and
would like to join our Grow Group, contact Shirley Peterson or Amy Fite. The
next 10 week class will begin on April 3.
The groups are limited and are confidential.
Coming on Saturday,
April 8, Marilynn Hamm, musician, artist and arranger, returns to share
in a Piano Concert at the Cadillac Christian Reformed Church at 7:00 p.m. There is no charge for the concert; a
free-will offering will be taken. We are
co-sponsoring this event. She will be
here to play at our 11:00 worship service on April 9.
