THE GATHERING TO WORSHIP

PRELUDE

BRINGING IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST

WELCOME AND PARISH NOTES

       *CALL TO WORSHIP

One:    Jesus is in our midst. Jesus our healer, deliverer and friend, is here.

All:       We have heard so many good things about him, but we long to meet him, to encounter him ourselves.

One:    Call out to him, and do not be silent. Like Blind Bartimaeus, shout to him and do not allow anyone to silence your voice.  Cry out and tell Jesus what you need!

All:       Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on us!  We need a touch from you!  Touch me; touch us in our need, which we lift right now in our hearts!

One:    In this time of worship, celebrate God's goodness!  In this celebration of worship, know that Jesus touched your place of need.  Hallelujah!  Amen!

UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Forgiving Christ, our lives of faith have become confused.  We long to see you for ourselves, yet settle for what others say about you.  We cry out in the midst of pain or sadness, yet do not act boldly when we are made well.  We ask for forgiveness, yet fail to live out your mercy in our repentance.

Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on us.  Give us the strength not only to feel but do, not only to think but speak.  May we be made well in our faith, that we might follow you more closely. In your name, we pray.  Amen.
