CALL TO AWARENESS                             He Was Going on a Journey

BRINGING IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST                             by the Acolytes

    *PROCESSIONAL HYMN                                                              #278

“Hosanna, Loud Hosanna”

    *GATHERING WORDS

One:    Excitement is all about. Today we tell an ancient story

of a parade, palms and possibilities.

Many:   And we wear palms and crosses, reminding ourselves

that both ecstasy and agony, joy and disappointment are part of our living.

One:    Today we say: Blessed is the One who comes

            in God’s name!  Hosanna!

Many:   This One is Jesus of Nazareth—teacher, builder, Christ.

One:    In ancient Jerusalem, people gave Jesus a wonderful welcome.

Many:   Today we celebrate the presence of the living Christ!

All:       Holy One, thank you for your unmistakable presence!

With our senses and our minds, we delight in the gift of life!  We honor you with attentive listening and we eagerly wait

            for your voice.  Amen.

UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION

O Lord,

who on this day entered the rebellious city that later rejected you: we confess that our wills are as rebellious as Jerusalem's,            our faith is often more show than substance, our hearts are in need of cleansing. Have mercy on us, Son of David, Savior of our lives. Help us to lay at your feet all that we have and all that we are, trusting you to forgive what is sinful,            to heal what is broken,                                                                         to welcome our praises.  Amen.

The Flowers on the Lord’s Table today are given in belated celebration of Seth Myers’ 13th birthday.

The Loose Plate Offering for April will be for the Babyfold at Old Mutare Hospital (#11713T) located in Zimbabwe. “Babyfold” in Zimbabwe is what we would call in the United States a home for orphan infants. For several reasons—cultural, social and economic—many infant babies are abandoned in Africa at birth. Multiple births, deformed babies, and deliveries causing the death of the mother are often interpreted in a negative way. The result is a steady flow of infants in need of the babyfold.

You may designate money for the Loose Plate Offering at any time; just make a notation on your check or envelope that the money is designated for the Loose Plate Offering.  Your generosity helps important programs such as this continue to do their vital work.

Easter Sunday Worship will be at 8:30 a.m. & 11:00 a.m. Come, celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord at the First Service of Easter (8:30) or at the Celebration Worship (11:00) when the Chancel Choir will share their Ministry of Music.

A Continental Easter Breakfast hosted by the Worship and Music Committee will be served beginning at 9:30 a.m.   Muffins, breads, juice, fresh fruit and coffee will be served.
