FOR OCTOBER *GATHERING WORDS One: By contact with Jesus the Christ, we all
are gathered, called and named, All: In faith, by water ratified, reborn,
uplifted and ordained; One: Yet when, in Christ, we name our needs for
guidance, leadership and care, All: The Spirit's blessing far exceeds what
our unaided faith could dare. One: The Spirit's breath, the church's faith
will help us go a second mile All: And give us unexpected strength to
love, resist and reconcile. by Brian Wren *HYMN OF PRAISE #529 “How
Firm a Foundation” *SHARING THE PEACE OF CHRIST PRAYER HYMN #618 ”Let
Us Break Bread Together” UNISON PRAYER OF
CONFESSION We blend our voices
in common confession, O God; you are our hope of salvation. The Apostle teaches that there are
varieties of gifts, yet we judge others because they do not fit our mold.
There is one Savior, yet we mistrust those who do not believe as we do, and doubt
that they are led by the same Spirit. Forgive us for the many ways we sever
the parts of Christ's body. Through Christ reconcile us and pardon our
estrangement, we pray. Amen. ASSURANCE OF
FORGIVENESS People of God, in the
name of Christ Jesus, I declare to you: God is our salvation. Out of God’s
fullness we have received grace upon grace. The peace of the saving Christ be with you all. All: And also with you. PRAYER OF THE PEOPLE THE BAPTISMAL COVENANT #39 Sacrament
