WELCOME AND PARISH NOTES

CLIP BOARD MINISTRY FOR MARCH

    *GATHERING FOR WORSHIP

One:    Let us wholeheartedly sing praise and thanksgiving

            to God

All:       who has loved us with a faithful and steadfast love;

One:    who responds when we call and shields us

from the anger of our enemies.

All:       O that the leaders of the world would listen

for your words and praise your glory, O God.

One:    For you relate to us, not as someone high and mighty,

far removed from us, but as someone who chose

            to live among us.

All:       A Savior to lift up the lowly and scatter the proud.

One:    Fulfill your purpose in us, O God, as we praise

your steadfast love which endures forever.

UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION.

We come today, O Lord, confessing that, like the disciples, we, too, have worked all night and have precious little to show for our efforts. Some of us have 'churched' long and hard, and still our neighbors see no good news in either the church or church people.

We offer you both our days and our ways. Teach us how to live our days as servants of God. Show us new ways to serve that benefit your mission— and not our need to be busy for you.

Direct our strength to the deep and difficult places— where people need you most. Reorder our thoughts, ministries, and works of service so that they truly work for your glory, we pray. Amen.

A Note of Caution from the Trustees:  Please do NOT remove the icicles from the roof line of the church.  This will damage the under seal and the new roofing.  In addition, the icicle could hurt you.  Please let them be!!  Thank you for your help!!

Today’s collection of non-perishable food & paper products  goes to O.A.S.I.S. Family Resource Center.  Last year, O.A.S.I.S. provided over 4,237 bed rights & over 12,711 meals to women & children.  Some of them were homeless; many were seeking a safe harbor from a domestic violence or sexual assault situation in their own home. Our on-going support of the shelter is greatly appreciated!

UMW General Meeting will be held on Thursday, February 8.  We will be having a Soup Luncheon at Noon.  Susie Greenman and Lisa Hopkins from the Council on Aging will be the speakers.  They will inform us of ongoing and new programs offered through their agency.  It should be an enlightening and entertaining afternoon.  Come join us!

WE NEED YOU!  The Membership Committee is looking for additional help in making copies of the Sunday morning worship tapes for our shut-ins & members unable to attend worship.  It only takes about 30 minutes of your time between Sunday School and the 11:00 a.m. worship service.  Training will be held for those interested.  Please call the church office 775-5362 or Margaret Himes if you can help in this vital ministry.

An Usher and Greeter Training will be held on Sunday, February 11 and February 18 at 10:00 a.m..  All who are interested in learning how to usher/greet and those who desire a “refresher” course are invited to come.  Individuals and families of all ages are encouraged to become part of this vital part of our worship ministry.  Questions, see Dee Brinks or Bill George.

The 2007 Grand Traverse District Conference is on Saturday, February 10 from 10:00 a.m. to Noon at our church. The theme for the day is “Fill My Cup Lord” in recognition of the need for all of us as servant leaders to have out spiritual reservoirs renewed as we serve Christ. The Rev. Benton Heisler, Lansing District Superintendent, will be the guest speaker.  A time of worship will include for personal reflection and intercessory prayer.  Following the service, there will be the recognition of our laity and the District business.  No reservations are necessary.

Our Loose Plate Offering will be going to the Christian Pilots  Association of Alaska to be used for their food distribution program.  The number of families served varies between 50 & 68 families--with 100 to 200 individuals served monthly. In December 2006, one of the pilots who lives in Anchorage opened his large shop to help store food in overhead pallet size racks. The food comes from Food Bank of Alaska, Inc. in Anchorage & in a warehouse between Wasilla & Palmer, AK.  Most food is shipped via parcel post costing 28¢ per lb. When food is flown in, the flight (shipping) costs are between $3 - $6  per lb depending on the distance.  Because of this high flight cost, food is only flown in conjunction with other missions.  Let’s share in this unique effort.
