Easter Sunday   _   The Resurrection of our Lord

April 8, 2007 at Eleven O’clock in the Morning

“On the first day of the week, at early dawn,

the women came to the tomb,

taking the spices that they had prepared.

They found the stone rolled away from the tomb . . .”

Prepared for mourning, they were called to joy instead.

May their witness give you hope.

Christ is risen!  Alleluia!  Alleluia!  Alleluia!

   *EASTER AFFIRMATION

One:    Easter turns doubts upside down, sets loose new possibilities, reveals a God stronger than death, a love mightier than despair.

All:       Easter brings us the risen Christ, who knows our wounds, forgives our denials, sends us out to love and serve; who is not bound by a period in history but finds us wherever we journey; who receives our questions, whispers a word of peace and causes our hearts to be warmed.

One:    Easter releases the Holy Spirit, setting us free from sins that wound, resentments that smolder, anger that burns; empowering us to be witnesses to truth and obedient to a higher authority; causing us to walk with joy in our steps, hope in our hearts and a song on our lips –

All:       for Christ is Risen!  He is risen indeed!

Alleluia!  Alleluia!  Alleluia!.

UNISON PRAYER

Christ is risen; our loads are lifted and the path is cleared!  Light rises over us as Jesus overcomes darkness and death. As we celebrate the promise of Easter, remind us that our lives can and will be totally transformed, just as the women and the disciples were on that first Easter.  We need not struggle alone, pushing through pain, stumbling on sin and trying to walk life's way unaided.  Lent is over, Easter has come, and our road is new. We are forgiven; Jesus leads the way!  Help us to savor in the mighty power of this Resurrection Day; in our risen Lord.  Amen.
