UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God of the Ages, we cannot remain silent, but must speak of the ways we misuse your gifts.  In our desire to have more and more, we cause more damage to your good creation.  In our obsession with ourselves, we have desolated the lives of those around us.  When we hoard what you have given us, we cannot be a blessing to other people.  Forgive us, so we might be restored to life.  May your steadfast love save and strengthen us to share our gifts with others, even as you have shared the Gift of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.                           Silence is kept

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Pastor:  God delights in you. So much, that God will not rest                           until you are at peace. God will not remain silent, but

will call you by name: 'My Delight.'

People:  God's steadfast love extends to the heavens and reaches down to touch our hearts. Thanks be to God who forgives and saves us!  Amen.

The 2007 Flower Calendar is available in the hallway by the Church Office.  You may sign up for flowers in memory or in honor of a person or special occasion.  The flowers are $15.  They are used for Sunday worship and then may be taken for your enjoyment and use.

SNOWBIRDSRemember to notify the Church Office (775-5362) of your winter address, along with dates you will be leaving and approximate date of return.  Your help with this is really appreciated.

Susannah Wesley Circle will meet at the Hillcrest Restaurant  on Thursday, January 18 at 11:00 a.m..  All are welcome!

Once again, this year, we will be celebrating Souper Bowl of Caring on Sunday, February 4.  We invite you to bring cans of soup and/or $1.00 (dollars) to help local food pantry.  Let’s see if we can beat last year’s totals of $127 & 64 cans of soup.

Each year in January the Church Administrative Council has invited the congregation to a Vision and Planning Time.  During these sessions we have spent a couple of hours around tables talking about the essentials of ministry and what needs to happen to keep us moving in God’s direction.  Last year we focused on five essentials and we’ve made progress on several.  But there is still more work to be done.

On Tuesday, January 30, at 7:00 p.m. you are invited to this year’s vision and planning time as we continue to focus in the essential goals for effective ministry. Committees and work areas will want to attend or make certain your representatives are present. Bring ideas and share your commitment to moving our church closer to Christ’s ideal for us.

The Flowers on the Lord’s Table today are given in loving memory of Evadean Mattison from Dalene and Mike Wilkinson and Julie and Gerry Vanderheide.

Jim Solce, son of our new members, Larry and Ann Solce, is to be deployed with the U.S. Army to Iraq at the end of January.  Jim is not a stranger to our church.  He is an Eagle Scout from Troop 125 and one Advent helped a youth brass quintet as director.  We wanted to give the members of our congregation an opportunity to be a “Secret Saint” to Jim for a month at a time for the year he will be in Baghdad.  Perhaps you or your family or committee/group/class within the life of the church would like to take a month to send him greetings and “gifts” from home.  A sign-up sheet is in Fellowship Hall.  As soon as we have his address, we will send you a letter with his address and any vital instructions for sending packages overseas.  Let’s offer our support to this one who is serving our nation.  Questions, see or call Deborah Janway.

We also are needing a Secret Saint for a full-time Baker Student,

Beth Dumont.  See Deborah Janway at the table in Fellowship Hall during Coffee Hour to sign-up for Jim and Beth.
