UNISON PRAYER

You give us life; we must offer commitment.  You give us Scripture; we must study.  You give us children; we must serve as good parents and examples.  You give us talents; we must minister accordingly.  You give us the church; we must extend fellowship. You give us the Gospel; we must share the Good News.  You give us each other; we must live in love.  O Giver of all that we call good and perfect, transform our gratitude for what you have placed within our hands into significant means of serving others as well as you.  Amen.

Litany of Farewell for Dale Peter Ostema

A:                We praise you, O God, for the life and work of Dale Peter Ostema: for his nurturing expressions of Christian love, for expressions of holiness made visible in his teaching, preaching and pastoral care, for his deep desire for peace on earth and among all people.

A:                O God, lead us forward into the future with the assurance that you are always with us.

L:         We give you thanks, O God, for Dale’s collegiality, his gentle spirit, his sense of care for others, his seeing the good in people and even in difficult situations, his sense of humor.

A:                O God, make us ever mindful that you send leaders to be servants in our midst.  Thank you for the love, deep faith, grace and dedication of your servant, Dale.

A:                  We are appreciative of his engaging messages from your Word, his ability to listen, his talent for seeing person’s gifts for mission and ministry, his commitment and compassion.

A:                O God, let none of his gifts be overlooked in building up your reign as we acknowledge with gratitude his ministry in our midst these past seven years.

A:                We call upon you, loving God, to cast your Holy Spirit upon Dale as he moves into his new appointment as senior pastor of the Traverse City Central United Methodist Church trusting that you have given him the grace and gifts for leadership for ministry in that place.  Grant him renewed strength and wisdom as he seeks to minister in the name of Jesus.

A:                O God, make him strong and fill him with hope as you call him forth to journey in faith into this new phase of his life in Christ.

The American Cancer Society will be hosting the Relay for Life fund-raiser at the Memorial Stadium in Cadillac on June 22 & 23. If you are a cancer survivor, you are invited to walk in the Special Survivor Laps and to attend the Survivor Receptions on both days. Detailed registration forms are on the table in the Fellowship Hall. Call Barb Tatarchuk (survivorship chairperson) for additional info or to have a form sent to you.  You may also order luminaries for $10 each if you would like to honor someone who has battled cancer in the past or someone who is presently involved in the struggle.  They are placed around the track during the 24 hour event to remind us of loved ones who have had cancer and to offer hope for the future.
