THE GATHERING TO WORSHIP

PRELUDE

BRINGING IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST

WELCOME AND PARISH NOTES

    *GATHERING WORDS

One:    We have gathered as children of God’s promise,

to keep alive our vision of hope.

Many:   We have gathered on the mountaintop,

that we may strengthened to live as God’s children

in the valleys of everyday life.

One:    We are on a pilgrimage of love and hope.

Many:   We follow the footsteps of Jesus Christ

who was faithful because of God’s promise.

All:       Let us pause on our journeys;

let us build a roadside altar, not of stones but of praise,

to the God who calls and guides us.  Amen.

    *HYMN OF PRAISE                                                                     #2103

“We Have Come at Christ’s Own Bidding”

    *SHARING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

THE PEOPLE OF GOD PRAYING

If you have a prayer joy or concern you would like shared during the

Prayer of the People, please hand it to an usher during the Prayer Song.

CALL TO PRAYER                                                                          #2130

            “The Summons”

UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God of glory, we confess that we seek to prolong moments

of joy and illumination, rather than move on to the dangerous task of being your people in the real world.

Give us courage, that our prayer and praise may be the springboard for living the life to which you call us in Jesus Christ.

God of dazzling clothes

Show us how to be.

Change us; transfigure us

So that this world might see what we have seen,

worship and serve you.

Amen.
