    *GATHERING WORDS

One:    Let us hear the Word of the Lord: Let us be strangely warmed by its fire burning in             our hearts.

All:       God’s Word is a lamp to our feet, a light along the pathway.

One:    In the presence of the Word, revealed in Jesus Christ, written in Scripture, praised in hymns, proclaimed in preaching, expressed in prayer,

All:       Now here in this time together, let us praise God as we join in song.

UNISON PRAYER

With different gifts, with a variety of talents, with an array of interests, we come to worship you, our creating God.  We are here to unite our spirits, to be made one in Jesus Christ, to be merged in hope as your children.  Bless our differences, that the unique gifts and perception of each may strengthen our oneness.  Drawn into your Spirit, we give you the thanks of our hearts, in the name of the living Christ.  Amen.

Fall begins today

September 23

The Clark Walk & Fall Festival is a community-wide event that provides fun activities for all ages and raises funds for Clark Retirement Community’s care fund.  Activities include a scenic Walk-a-thon through East Grand Rapids followed by a festival including live music, refreshments and many activities.  For more information on how to participate or donate, visit www.clarkretirement.org/walk.  Clark Retirement is located at 1551 Franklin Ave SE, Grand Rapids.

The United Methodist Men will be gathering on Thursday, September 27 at 6:00 p.m. at the Church for their usual “splendid” Potluck Supper, a brief business meeting and devotions.  Following, they will be driving to the Cadillac/Wexford Airport (Sixth Avenue entrance) where they will view the recently completed airplane built by Doug Bell and his son.  They will see a “hot” plane in action and up close.  The Bells put several years and a lot of work into this fine aircraft.  Ron Truax and Paul Helton are hosts.  Grab a friend and join us on September 27th!

Grand Traverse District 2007 “Main Event” has been scheduled for Saturday, October 13.  Guest speak is Dr. H. Eddie Fox.  For additional information see the flyers/registration forms located on the table in the church narthex.

We so appreciate your willingness to help with food for funerals. However, we now have a quantity of bowls, pans, platters, etc. that need to find their way home.  Please stop in the kitchen after services today to pick up your serving container & take it with you. Any items left at the time of the Bazaar will be sold at the Bazaar.

We have openings on our Flower Calendar for September 30, November 4 & 11 and December 9.  If you wish to place flowers in honor or memory of a person or occasion, please sign-up on the Flower Chart located in the hallway by the Church Office.  Cost is only $15.
