One:    Watch the fire!  It leaps and crackles and roars.

All:       Is God there?

UNISON PRAYER

Healer God, Come to us now as you did long ago. Come to us with strength and courage as you did for Elijah. Come to us with guidance and purpose as you did for Mary (of Jesus) and Peter.

Come to us with help and healing balm for our brokenness and the despair that hangs heavy upon us.  We are troubled by worry, stress, anxiety and anger.  The warring of the nations goes on and we find our trust placed in so many wrong places.  Center our living upon you, Lord of history and creation, and remind us that we continue always to live in your grace and mercy; in the name of Jesus, we pray.  Amen.
