UNISON PRAYER

Gracious God, all week we have been fighting the good fight,

running the race and keeping the faith.

And today we need your care, for we must go out and strive again next week.

Silence the tumult in our lives

Lift from us all sin and defeat.

Pour your Spirit upon us.

Water the furrows of our lives with your softening showers.

We wait in the goodness of your house, for your merciful and generous care.  Amen.

God of grace and truth, receive and bless these gifts which we offer in response to the blessings you bestow on our lives and our world.  How easily we forget these blessings and the depth of your care for us.  We therefore dedicate ourselves anew to care passionately for this world, to dream dreams of the world as you see it, and to live lives which bear witness to the humility and servanthood of Jesus, in whose name pray. Amen

We are still receiving Estimate of Giving cards for 2008.  Please place it in the offering plate or leave at the church office as soon as possible.  Estimate of Giving cards are available on the table in the church narthex or in the sanctuary pews.  Your faithful commitment to giving to the church is greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your overwhelming response to help provide cookies for the December American Red Cross Blood Drive.  A reminder that no peanut products are to be used.   Please bring your cookies to the church on Sunday, December 2.  We will take them to Temple Hill early on Monday morning for the Blood Drive.  Thanks!!

If you have enjoyed the wonderful piano music of Dave Stump, Walt’s brother in the past, you will want to get the CD which Dave recorded a while ago.  “God Be With You “Til We Meet Again,” is offered as a single gift of Dave Stump’s Christian dedication and charity.  The CD presents 27 hauntingly and beautiful piano renditions of some of the most cherished Gospel Hymns of the past. A limited number of CD’s have been made available for A Freewill Offering that will go to the Dave Stump Memorial Scholarship Fund.  Order blanks are available this morning in the Fellowship Hall.  Pick up a couple for holiday gifts.

United Methodist Men will be having their regular November meeting one week later on Thursday, November 29.  We will gather at 6:00 p.m. in the Corbin Room for our usual “outstanding” Potluck Dinner; bring a dish to share and your own table service. Following a short business meeting and devotions we will view a video titled “Touring Lake Michigan’s Lighthouses”. Dave Fuller and Paul Helton are hosts.  Bring a friend and join us for the evening.

The Annual Advent Event will be on Sunday, December 2 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.  This family friendly gathering is a great way to ring in the Advent Season.  We will celebrate by singing carols and learning about the Season of Advent with Pastor Tom.  Each child will fill his/her own Christmas Treasure box with ornaments they make as we discover how these symbols relate to the Christmas Story.  We will also create something special for our shut-ins, frost Christmas cookies and decorate the tree in the Fellowship Hall. Invite a friend, come and share in the fun!
