*GATHERING WORDS

One: Loving God, your people long for a sign that you have not forgotten them!

All: Shine among us! Fill our land with your radiant glory!

One: Merciful God, your people are parched from the heat of their own sin!

All: Flow among us! Flood all peoples with your grace and mercy!

One: Life-giving God, your people grow cold as the world’s grief takes its toll on them!

All: Blaze among us! Set our hearts on fire with compassion!

Send forth your world and let there be light!

CALL TO PRAYER

Let’s go up the mountain.
Let’s go up to the place where the land meets the sky
where the earth touches the heavens,
to the place of meeting,
to the place of mists,
to the place of voices and conversations,
to the place of listening.

UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God of the mountains and valleys, we look to your glory during the high moment our lives. We love the times of excitement that are part of our faith and our life. We dream of mountaintop experiences and seek to hold on to those moments. Forgive us when we try to build sanctuaries and hide from the realities of our world. Forgive us when we fail to come down from the mountains and live in the valleys of everyday life. Help us to see you as the God of both mountaintops and valleys. Keep us faithful to the vision that we might translate it into a realty for all the world to see. Amen.

Always a wonderful time of worship - plan to attend.

As part of our journey in this season of Lent, we are inviting you to join with others in having a secret prayer partner.” Next Sunday, the first Sunday in Lent, February 10, we will have those who wish to participate place their name on a card, put it in a basket and then you will take one from the basket who will be your “partner” for Lent. A message board will be set-up so you can communicate with your prayer partner anonymously throughout Lent. The prayer partners will be revealed on Easter Sunday. Plan to share in this ministry of prayer as we listen, reflect and receive during Lent.
