UNISON PRAYER

God of blessing,

you call us to venture into the unknown

and trust that you know the way.

We are often afraid,

reluctant to answer you,

hesitant to take the risks.

Give us the faith to overcome our fears.

Remind us of your power to sustain us

when we are weak.

Heal what is broken

and bring us back to life.

May we live in the midst of your blessings,

ever rejoicing in your love. Amen.

Attention All Gardeners! It’s time to sign up to tend the Peace Garden. We will be starting the week of June 2 and go thru the middle of September. Please see Mary Buehler or give her a call. For those of you unfamiliar with what is involved, we take a week at a time and one is responsible for weeding and deadheading that week. It is a wonderful way to donate your time.

Come enjoy a buffet of wonderful salads and the fellowship of our sisters and friends in Christ. Jacque Rocher will present a program on the Underground Railroad Quilts. We will again be honoring those marvelous women of the church who are eighty or more years old.

Over time our church has accumulated many various items that have been left behind by our members and visitors. We need to “reunite” these unclaimed items with their owners. Therefore, on Sunday, June 8 and Sunday, June 15, there will be a table set up in the Fellowship Hall with these items displayed. Please take a moment or two to peruse what is on the table to see if there might be anything belonging to you. Whatever remains after June 15 will be donated to Goodwill. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Celebrate Women! The 13th Annual Style Show and Luncheon to Benefit OASIS / Family Resource Center will be held at The Cadillac Grill on Wednesday, June 11 from Noon until 2:00 pm. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the Family Resource Center, Trend Designers, Citizen’s Bank, Cadillac Chamber & Hagstrom’s Flowers.

Crystal Flash Energy is sponsoring a BLOOD DRIVE at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 800 W. 13th Street, Cadillac, on Monday, June 9 from 1:00 to 6:45 pm and on Tuesday, June 10, from 11:15 am to 5:00 pm. All presenting donors can enter to win various prizes. To donate blood, you must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health.

A spiritual mentor is needed at the Shepherds Table on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.. The mentor would be assigned to an individual who is in need of someone to sit with or pray with them. A free meal will be provided for the mentor. If interested, please contact Diane Wood at Love Inc at 779-1888.

Have you registered your child for a United Methodist Camp yet? There is still time. Please contact Marian Fuller.

A reminder that the Prayer Quilt for those serving in the military is available in the Fellowship Hall for you to place on it a card with the name, area of service and location of those serving our nation so that our congregation might pray for them especially during these days of increased and extended deployment of our troops.

We want to extend our deepest appreciation for the worship ministry of Chuck and Donna Crance. Since we began the 8:30 worship service, Chuck and Donna have offered their time and energy to help make that service run as smoothly as possible. Chuck has been our “sound person” for worship and many other events in the life of the church. Donna has prepared the Coffee Hour for the early service worshipers each week. Their faithful commitment to these tasks which have enhanced our worship has been so appreciated. We also want to thank our longtime 8:30 acolyte, Amanda Anderson. Join us in thanking them during the Coffee Hour following the 8:30 service.

Our Summer Worship Schedule begins today and continues through Sunday, August 31 with worship at 8:30 a.m. & 10:00 a.m. Next Sunday, June 15, we will begin our Informal Hymn Sing prior to each time of worship. Get your favorites selected. Also, we will be honoring the men of our congregation with a “sweet treat.”

Our June Loose Plate Offering will be used to help buy nets for the protection of children from malaria-carrying mosquitoes. Nothing But Nets is a global, grassroots campaign to save lives by preventing malaria, a leading killer of children in Africa; one million children die of malaria each year. Our goal was 50 nets - your generous offering totaled $678.95.
