*CALL TO CELEBRATION

One:...On an ordinary Sunday,
...........we come to worship God:

All:......We come, trusting God will speak to us;
...........we come, hoping God will surprise us.

One:...On this day, like every other day,
...........we seek to follow Jesus:

All:......we follow, believing Jesus will be with us;
...........we follow, hoping Jesus will work through us.

One:...On this day,
...........we lift our souls to God's Spirit:

All:......we open our hearts, that the Spirit may fill us;
...........we open our hands, that we might be a gift to others.

THE PEOPLE OF GOD PRAYING

If you have a prayer joy or concern you would like shared

during the Prayer of the People, please hand it to an usher.

UNISON PRAYER

Creator God,

when faced with your miraculous love,

we often question our worthiness to receive it;

when faced with opportunities to share your grace

we often close our doors to the needy.

We focus our ministries inward

to serve our own needs,

rather than outward

to meet the needs of others.

We ask for your forgiveness.

and for the strength to turn away from, fear

and selfish motives.

Bless us so that we may open our hearts anew

and have the courage to serve you. Amen.

*DOXOLOGY.........................................................................................................#94

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;

praise God, all creatures here below: Alleluia! Alleluia!

Praise God, the source of all our gifts!

Praise Jesus Christ, whose power uplifts!

Praise the Spirit, Holy Spirit! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

*PRAYER OF GIVING THANKS (in unison)

Gracious God, you call us into your church to accept the cost and joy of discipleship. Help us to understand and accept the costs of following Christ, that we may know the joy you intend for the faithful. Make us lifelong learners in the school of faithfulness, through Jesus Christ. Amen.

THE SCATTERING TO SERVE IN THE WORLD

*CLOSING HYMN...............................................................................................#695

O Lord, May Church and Home Combine”

*BENEDICTION AND BLESSING

Pastor:..Take authority to travel in Christ’s name,

All: ........Amen!

Pastor:..Travel lightly,

All: ........lest under the weight of status and possessions

.............we come to a standstill.

Pastor:..Travel boldly,

All: ........for we are apostles of a Christ

.............who has overcome the worst the world can give.

Pastor:..Travel humbly,

All:........for as friends of Jesus no service is too menial

.............and no person is unworthy of help.

Pastor:..Travel joyfully,

All:........for when the road is rough and the night dark

.............we shall never travel on our own.

Pastor:..Go in peace to love and care for another in the name of Christ Jesus

.............may God bless you and keep you, may the love of Christ our Lord-surround

.............and fill you and may the Spirit guide you and strengthen you on your journey;

.............day by day - now and forevermore. Amen.

*POSTLUDE

The church phones were “out” most of this past week. We have had to replace our entire phone system as it sustained a lightning strike over last weekend. Our new system is nearly in place - the voice mail will be installed early this coming week. If you tried to call and did not get an answer, please call again with your question or your information. We are so sorry for any inconvenience.

Happiest of Father’s Days to all the men in the congregation!!

Claim your “stuff” TODAY: Over time our church has accumulated many various items that have been left behind by our members and visitors. We need to “reunite” these unclaimed items with their owners. Therefore, on Sunday, June 8 and Sunday, June 15, there will be a table set up in the Fellowship Hall with these items displayed. Please take a moment or two to peruse what is on the table to see if there might be anything belonging to you. Whatever remains after June 15 will be donated to Goodwill. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Our church has agreed to help Love In the Name of Christ with an ink cartridge recycling program. Very soon, there will be a collection box located in our church. Simply bring in your used printer ink cartridges (of any size, style, color, etc.) and drop them in the box. This will be an ongoing program and your donation, along with those from other churches, will help Love INC continue their mission to “help churches help people.”

Spiritual mentors are needed at the Shepherd’s Table on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.. The mentor would be assigned to an individual who is in need of someone to sit with or pray with them. A free meal will be provided for the mentor. If interested, please contact Diane Wood at Love Inc at 779-1888.

Have you registered your child for a United Methodist Camp yet? There is still time. Please contact Marian Fuller.

A reminder that the Prayer Quilt for those serving in the military is available in the Fellowship Hall for you to place on it a card with the name, area of service and location of those serving our nation so that our congregation might pray for them especially during these days of increased and extended deployment of our troops.
