THE GATHERING TO WORSHIP

PRELUDE

BRINGING IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST

WELCOME AND PARISH NOTES

*GATHERING WORDS

One: Do we dare place our trust in God?

All: God has promised to be with us to guide us.

One: Are we willing to continue on the journey when we do not know the dangers and are not sure of the destination.

All: No matter what, God is with us.

That is the promise and the hope.

One: Let us step forward boldly,

listening for God’s call in our lives.

All: Let us place our trust in God always. Amen.

THE PEOPLE OF GOD PRAYING

If you have a prayer joy or concern you would like shared during the

Prayer of the People, please hand it to an usher during the Prayer Hymn.

PRAYER HYMN ........................................................................................................#508

Faith While Trees Are Still in Blossom”

UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God of the journey, you call us to become pilgrims, to follow you by faith. It would be so much easier to follow when not so much is at stake. But you promise that you will be with us and that our needs will be net. We cling to our possessions, trusting in them for security. You lead us into unfamiliar places, asking that we trust in your will. O God, your way is challenging when we choose to be complacent. Have mercy upon us and forgive our hesitant steps toward the promise. Amen.

WORDS OF PROMISE

Pastor: God hears the confession of our hearts. Through Jesus

we are forgiven all our sins and by the Holy Spirit we are empowered for new life.

All: Thanks be to God!

Gracious God - you have given us a new name and a new start in living before you. You make fresh each morning. We offer to you these gifts - and ourselves - in the trust you will use them and us for the sake of your kingdom. Bless us and all that we do that we may be a blessing to others in Jesus' name. Amen.

As part of our journey in this season of Lent, we are offering two opportunities. First, we have a Lenten Pocket Prayer Key Tag” for you which offers a reminder to pray and commit to the Lord during Lent and second, we are inviting you to join with others in having a “secret prayer partner.” For those who wish to participate, please place their name on the yellow prayer partner a card, put it in a basket and then you will take one from the basket who will be your “partner” for Lent. If you placed a card in the basket last Sunday and did not pick one out, please do so this morning. A message board is set-up is so you can communicate with your prayer partner anonymously throughout Lent. The prayer partners will be revealed on Easter Sunday. Plan to share in this ministry of prayer as we listen, reflect and receive during Lent.

Adult Membership Classes have begun. We will meet in the Church Library following the early worship service for the next three weeks. If you are interested in learning more about the church and faithful church membership, please come.
