HONORING THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED OUR NATION PRAYER SONG......................................................................................................#431 “Let There Be Peace On Earth”
PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING AND PEACE Prayer of the People for Memorial Day
After each prayer and the words, We pray to the Lord, the response is, Lord, hear our prayer.
In peace let us pray to the Lord:
For those who have given their lives for their country and whose graves we have visited this Memorial Day weekend, that they may rest in God's peace and that their sacrifice may inspire in us who live a commitment to the ideals for which they perished, we pray to the Lord . . .
Lord, hear our prayer.
For our veterans, whom we have sent to far countries on our behalf, and who for us have often endured fear, trauma, and sorrow that no human should have to face, that they may receive healing of their hearts and a welcome home from their towns, their families and their churches, we pray to the Lord . . .
Lord, hear our prayer.
For our men and women serving under orders this day, especially those who may be in situations of danger, that they may be inspired by the ideal of duty, may conduct themselves with honor and receive strength equal to every challenge they face and for families of veterans, civilian families who have suffered in time of war and especially those families whose tables will always have an empty chair, we pray to the Lord . . .
Lord, hear our prayer.
For our leaders, who have the power to promote peace and justice or to extinguish life itself from our planet, that any and all decisions relating to the use of armed forces may be preceded by fervent prayer, we pray to the Lord . . .
Lord, hear our prayer.
For persons in need of healing and resurrection, let your grace shine upon those for whom we pray in intercession, especially as we pray for __________________________, we pray to the Lord . . .
Lord, hear our prayer.
For ourselves gathered here and for all persons of faith, that recognizing the expression in works which must result from an experience of faith, we may be builders of community as well as seekers of salvation, we may seek outer peace as well as inner harmony, and justice for our world as well as fairness for ourselves, to the end that the dwelling of God may be with us, and we shall be God's people, we pray to the Lord...
Lord, hear our prayer.
And now, with the confidence of children of God, let us pray . . . Our Father . . .

Attention All Gardeners! It’s time to sign up to tend the Peace Garden. We will be starting the week of June 2 and go thru the middle of September. Please see Mary Buehler between services on May 18 or give her a call. For those of you unfamiliar with what is involved, we take a week at a time and one is responsible for weeding and deadheading that week. It is a wonderful way to donate your time.

Members, Fred and Sue Kloepfer, are leaving Cadillac this coming week and moving back to Auburn, Michigan to be closer to their family. You are invited to join them and others for lunch at the Timbers Restaurant today at 1:15 p.m. This is “Dutch treat.” If you are planning on coming, please see Walt or Jean Stump or Jerry or Joyce Seward so that we might get a count to call into the restaurant for reservations.
Some of our members in recent weeks have moved into care facility for some care and return to health; others are there for long term care. Presently, at Lakeview Lutheran Manor, Harold Gekeler (609) Harriett Gaumer (414) Hazel Oyler (506) and Nina Katschalin (522) Continuing at Curry House are Eloise Baker (110) and Irene Szymke (107) and at Green Acres, Carl T. Boy Scout Troop 125 is holding their Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26 at 7:00 p.m.. Everyone is welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served. If you have a flag to retire, please drop it off at the church office.
Our old dishwasher is broken beyond repair and we are getting a new one. We are raising funds to pay for it and have gotten a good amount so far. For now we are using paper and plastic and it is costing us to provide them for our meals served here. If you would like to contribute to our new dishwasher, please mark the envelope with "dishwasher" so that it will get to the fund. Thank you.
Over time our church has accumulated many various items that have been left behind by our members and visitors. We need to “reunite” these unclaimed items with their owners. Therefore, on Sunday, June 8 and Sunday, June 15, there will be a table set up in the Fellowship Hall with these items displayed. Please take a moment or two to peruse what is on the table to see if there might be anything belonging to you. Whatever remains after June 15 will be donated to Goodwill. Thank you for your help in this matter.
