UNISON PRAYER

One: Let us pray to God to make us welcome people,
as God is hospitable to us

(PAUSE)

All: God of loving welcome.

Embrace us this day

As you welcome us into this house of worship

So we welcome your presence into our lives

Live in us; breathe in us; be in us.

Let your warm hospitality flow through us,

that others may see your welcome in our eyes

and sense your love in our presence.

Let welcoming love guide our worship,

and may it be our way in the world. Amen.

PRAYER OF THE PEOPLE

THE LORD’S PRAYER..........................................................................................#895

Our Father who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name,

Thy kingdom come,

thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,

forever. Amen.

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;

praise God, all creatures here below: Alleluia! Alleluia!

Praise God, the source of all our gifts!

Praise Jesus Christ, whose power uplifts!

Praise the Spirit, Holy Spirit! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

*PRAYER OF GIVING THANKS (in unison)

Welcoming God,

there are many who need your welcome,

who yearn for a taste of your love

and a drink of your living water.

Help us give of ourselves and our gifts

with the same generous spirit you have shown us.

In our giving,

may we welcome as we have been welcomed.

In our sharing

may we love as we have been loved.

In these gifts

may even the little ones know your loving welcome. Amen.

THE SCATTERING TO SERVE IN THE WORLD

*CLOSING HYMN

Past and Present”

Bill WallaceTune: Cwm Rhonda

Present and past, with our dreaming,
Join to make us what we are;
Ancient wisdom, ancient follies
Shape the way we love and care:
Give us reverence, Give us wisdom,
From the past for life today. From the past for life today.

Make us mindful of the present -
Ev'ry force, each strength, each flaw;
Free us from those selfish motives
Which consume us more and more:
Give us vision, Give us courage,
For this modern age of change. For this modern age of change.

*Words of Mission
One: Time has now come for us to leave this sacred place. As

we do, may we embrace the challenges of our lives and world.

The candles are extinguished

We have come together to share in worship, to speak words of inspiration and to sing words of hope.

All: May we now commit ourselves to do what we can to ease the burdens of others who suffer, to work for a more wholesome environment for us and for all the generations that will follow and to build community.

*Blessing Words
One: The peace of this ancient earth to you...
of the high blue heavens which embrace it,
and the winds which blow freely over it.

The peace of splintered light sparkling on gum leaves,
and gentle rain falling on the earth.

The peace of star-jeweled skies and full-orbed moons,
of breathless dawns and splendid dying suns.

And the peace of the God of Peace to you.

All: Amen.

Hymn Continues

We must face the future's challenge
To create a better earth
Hand in hand with all who labour
Dream and suffer for its birth:
For through sharing, And through caring
We shall build community
. We shall build community.

This closing hymn and blessings were taken from Liturgies by

Rev. Rex A.E. Hunt, The Uniting Church of St James Curtin, ACT.
