A prayer of praise and joy from a Dad: Larry Solce just called to say that Jim is back in the USA and due to land at Ft. Riley, Kansas in about an hour. He is back safely from his 15 month tour in Iraq. Thanks be to God!

Just received word that Don and Pat Lakin's daughter, Candy, came through her surgery. They only did part of what was originally planned as the colon was far more involved than they knew going in. Bonnie Forbes of Wexford Co. COA has a daughter, Kris Plont, that had been undergoing treatment for cancer. More tests were just been done and another growth has been found. Please pray for Amber and River Lowell. They were in a car accident on Tuesday afternoon (Nov 20). Wednesday, Nov 21, Amber (17 yrs. old) had surgery on a broken ankle. River (9 yrs. old) is paralyzed from the waist down. Doctors are telling his family it is permanent. He also was taken to surgery at 4pm today (Wednesday) for a possible perforated small or large intestine. This is our nephew David Lowell's two children. They live in Pensacola, Florida.

A Prayer Request has been received for the Sarah(Dodge) Schrieber and her family. Sarah's spouse, Chad, died unexpectedly today while running the Chicago Marathon. Some will remember that Sarah shared her ministry of music with us in late July. She also did a wonderful concert the following weekend to launch her solo singing ministry. Chad is the son of Bill Schrieber of Traverse City. Sarah is the daughter of Pat Dodge and Ken Dodge and the granddaughter of Aggie Profitt. The couple has three young children and lives in Midland where Chad worked as a law enforcement officer.

This one is a thank you for all your prayers. Hannah Barnum is home with her parents and is doing just fine. The fluid on the brain was relieved by a neuroscope and a new drain "hole" made and now she is just fine. This 5 year old was adopted from Russia and this appeared to be a congenital defect and who knows if it would have been taken care of at the orphanage in Russia. Great News! After a visit to Dr. in G.R. Link Finnerty, grandson of Larry Finnerty & Great-Nephew of Dee Brinks, got a very positive report thanks to all of the prayers offered by this congregation. Link is no longer on oxygen and hasn't been for a while. Although he is still being tube fed, he is learning to suck on a pacifier. He is also starting to smile and respond more. He passed his hearing test with flying colors but there is still some question on the quality of his vision. He will be going back to G.R. in Sept. for a MRI and we will receive more information then. Thanks to each and every one that have kept Link and his parents, Luke & Liz in their prayers. The law is being appealed but this is affecting her visa and flight reservations for home now and may stop her work there for next year. Baby Gavin Vanderwall update. Gavin was moved to Spectrum in Grand Rapids, since I last updated. He still has had some scary episodes, but is currently once again doing better. He is in ICU and has been in the hospital since mid Dec. He has a new web page the address is www.gavins-voice.blogspot.com For all he has been through, he is quite a little fighter. The big worry now is possible brain damage, besides the Downs and the heart problems. Mike's grandpa is doing better. We have called in hospice to help care for him at Belle Oakes, but he is doing better than he was. Thanks for all your prayers.

Just wanted to update you all on baby Gavin. He has been moved to Moderate Care in Ann Arbor after 10 weeks in Intensive Care and 3 separate heart surgeries. He now has a permanet pace maker but because of that, he has been off the ventilator now for 5 days!!!!! This is the first step in going home. His Mom reports he is smiling for the first time (he is now 5 months old). So many people have been praying for this baby and God has been so great in healing him. He will still face at least one other heart surgery when he is bigger but the fact that he has lived so far is truly a miracle....even the Drs. and nurses are saying that!! Thank you so much for praying with us for our 6 mo. old great-grandson, Bradley. The MRI showed that the Hemangeoma is not as deep as the Ultra-sound indicated & is not problematic. His parents are to observe it until Bradley is 4 yrs. old. So, we certainly thank everyone for their prayers. It is such a relief to know he will not require surgery. Yvonne

Our 6 mo. old great-grandson, Bradley is going to Spectrum Health Feb 21st for an MRI of a right-upper-back hemangeola. Please pray with us that the findings will be that he will not need surgery. The doctor thinks the root are deep & could involve his spine. This has been a worry for us since we are so far away. Of course if surgery in indicated, we will return home before April 6th. Update on Gavin Vanderwall. It now looks as though one of Gavin's heart valves isn't working properly. They have tried several times but can't get him off the ventilator. If he can withstand surgery again now, they will probably go in and fix it. If not, they hope he can get well enough to go home on the ventilator until he can have the surgery. The surgery is the better alternative. I have asked for prayers before for 3 month old Gavin Vanderwall (he is Mike's grandfather's great great nephew). He has downs syndrome and has 3 holes in his heart. He was scheduled for surgery in Ann Arbor in Dec. and developed pneumonia so he couldn't have the surgery. He was rushed to Devos Children's hospital on Christmas Day with a 105 temperature and now has a bacterial infection. He is now on a ventilator and has a feeding tube inserted into his small intestine. They plan to transfer him to Ann Arbor sometime Tuesday - Thursday depending on his condition and he is scheduled for the surgery on Jan. 8. It must be done ASAP. His parents were originally told he had to wait until he was 6 months old, now they are being told it should have been done as soon as possible after his birth as he has now lost strength and is at a greater risk now. Please pray for Gavin, his Drs. and his family

For Gavin Daniel VanderWall of Grand Rapids. Gavin is a 2 month old Downs Syndrome baby. He has 3 holes in his heart. He can't have the heart surgery until he is 4 to 6 months old. He is expending too much energy just breathing and eating, so they are going to have to put a feeding tube in until he can have the surgery. He has Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva, (www.ifopa.org) which is a rare bone disease that produces an extra skeleton that immobilizes the joints of the body. Please pray for my friend Brian. It has been discovered that he has a long-time drinking problem that he has hidden very well from his friends and employer. His job is at risk, and so is his marriage. This breaks my heart. He is a good man and I pray that he will get the help he needs and that God will give him the strength that he needs to fight this addiction.

Kindly pray with me for Neels. Pray with me for his parents, stepmother, women his mother life with. Neels needs the Holy Spirit to guide him, help him forgive his parents. The Holy Spirit needs to guide his father - where he was absent in the life of Neels, he never gave Neels financial support - but I know the Holy Spirit can guide this man - to reconcile with his son. Neels broke our relationship. When I read an article about depression - I understood why Neels "broke" the relationship. He needs to go for councelling - but all I can do, is to ask the Holy Spirit to work in the heart of Neels - to help him with his depression, and to help Neels to contact me again, restore our relationship. Please pray for the friends of Neels: Stephanus and Johan. Maybe I should ask the Holy Spirit to work in their hearts as well, for them to give the "proper" guidance / advice to Neels, and to help Neels to come back to me. Please add Ward Hotchkin to your prayer list again. Ward and Bette attended Cadillac UMC for a while a couple of years ago. Ward had finally gotten over his lung infection and resumed his arthritis medication. Now he is back in Ann Arbor with a massive Baker's cyst which usually isn't cancerous but its size, from knee to ankle, and a suspicious area requires an appointment at the cancer center. Pray for Ward's health and that he maintain attitude. Pray also for Bette who continues to suffer constant back pain.

From Karen Cooley: Keagan Weaver, only 3+ weeks old is presently undergoing surgery on his leg at DeVos Children's Hosptial in Grand Rapids. He was taken by ambulance with his Mom and Dad and Kade followed in the car. Aunt Karen is not exactly sure what is the problem, but appears to be an infection around his knee. We will keep you updated.

I stumbled upon your website, i from india and parents are missionaries, we a running a day care center for the cerebral palsy children in south india. we as a family beleive that god has entrusted us with this mission to help these children. these children are from very families. we do nat have grants are funds to run this and are working hard as a family to help these children. Pls pray that god should open doors for us to get regular funds either from the government or churches and beleivers to continue HIS vision. There many of these children we are yet to reach for the lack of funds. The center is called Ashirwad which means blessing. We also in the process of building a residential center, because many of the parents want to abandon these children as they are considered bad omens for the family. pls pray

Karen Lempe, the sister-in-law of Karen Jean Lempe, called to share an update. Karen needed to have additional surgery to reroute her intestines due to a severe infection. She is coming around from the second surgery now and they feel they got most of the infection. She is opening her eyes somewhat. Karen will remain at Mayo for a least two more weeks at the earliest. They ask that we continue to pray. Barry, brother, and Ruth Ann, partner, remain with her there.

All 3 are breathing on their own and are hospitalized at Grand Rapids. The mother is also doing fine. Although the parents have not chosen names yet for each triplet, they have picked out a few possibilities.

I ask that you pray that her Dr. will be committed to fixing this, because it seems as though he does not care a bit. He diagnosed her w/ this anurism, and then at a later appt. asked her who diagnosed her, she replied, "You did!" I worry that she is not getting the medical attention she needs and deserves. She is a wonderful, energetic woman who loves life, and all of God's creatures. And we all love her.

From Jo Brown, On Thursday, September 4, I received an e-mail saying that my brother- in-law, Ed Leino-Jones (Patty"s husband) collapsed from a heart attach about mid-night and that he was in the hospital on a respirator. Five days later, little has changed. I'm told that the doctor's don't expect him to wake up again. The family really needs your prayers.

Talked with Max this morning. He is recovering well now seven weeks out from his surgery which removed a very large tumor on his kidney. He and Irene are walking two miles each day. They are getting "antsy" and are anxious to return to Florida. They will be flying back on February 1. Max asks for prayers for continued healing and daily strength.

Requests for prayer have been received for: Peggy Lane, a single parent, who has been coming to our church for the past month. Her son, Thomas, will be having surgery twice in February in Ann Arbor. She asks for prayers for him and for their family financial situation. Marie Rennie's Dad, Ole Sollie, died on Wednesday afternoon. He was nearly 96 years old. His funeral service will probably be in Traverse City later this week. Jean Stump has asked for prayer for her sister who lives in Indiana. She will be in the hospital for ten days undergoing transfusions and other necessary blood work.

Hey prayer warriors, I just returned from the oncologist where I went after a disturbing several weeks getting back test results. It appears that I have a mass the size of a grapefruit on my ovaries and they are going to do surgery on Monday, May 20 at Munson Medical Center. They will be staging the cancer then as well and we are hopeful that we caught it early and it is fairly well contained. Thanks for the cards letters and prayers received so far. >JOY and KEVIN

Karen Zenner is requesting prayer for their son, Kirk Foster who will be having an MRI this Saturday. This is a precautionary test. Kirk received a concussion while playing hockey two weeks ago. The CT scan revealed a fatty tumor in the back area of the skull. They feel it is OK but want to check it out just to be sure. The Dr. cleared him for sports today. They ask that we remember Kirk as he has this test. Also, please pray for our friend, Jane Mintzer, as she begins a new round of chemo tomorrow in Traverse City. She will be having three sessions a week apart then a week off and another series for three sessions. Then, they will recheck her. Her most recent scans revealed that the cancer is moving in other places in her body despite a complete series of radiation and chemo in the summer and early fall. Her husband is Barry. Both need to be surround in prayer during this difficult days.
